Customer Announcement March 11, 2013 SOBOTEC’S WALL PANEL SYSTEM PASSES THE PRESSURE-EQUALIZED RAINSCREEN SYSTEM TEST (AAMA 508-07) With outstanding results, Sobotec’s SL-2000 wall panel system design has passed the “Volunteer Test Method and Specification for Pressure-Equalized Rain Screen Wall Cladding Systems.” The AAMA 508-07 test takes rainscreen performance testing to the next level. It requires the panel system to employ the advanced ‘Pressure-Equalized and Compartmented’ (PE/C) rainscreen concept. This not only requires the proper management of penetrating water but also the prevention of water penetration. The compartmentalized system design concept is based on stringent pressure equalization requirements by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). The research and development team at Sobotec has been able to improve the SL-2000 panel system response time to varying static and dynamic pressures created by wind and driving rain. As a result, the air flow—which inherently carries water or moisture—is virtually eliminated while any water that does enter the system is able to quickly drain or dry out.
