Clover Virtual High School Summer Initial Credit Program June 5-30, 2017 Initial Credit courses are specifically designed for students who wish to advance course progression in order to take additional courses, students who are unable to schedule a course during the regular school day, and/or students who transfer into the district and need to complete coursework. Available Courses for Summer Initial Credit Social Studies: Economics (1 unit), American Government (.5 unit), Sociology (1 unit) Health (.5 unit), PE (1 unit) Art Appreciation (1 unit), Music Appreciation (1 unit) IBA Creative Writing (.5) CURRICULUM: The Clover Virtual High School incorporates a blended online program utilizing the Apex Learning digital curriculum. Some courses may also require additional assignments. GRADING: Students are graded based on computer generated quizzes and tests as well as teacher graded assignments such as journals, discussions, labs, and other opportunities to show mastery of the content. Transcripts: The final grade earned in the course will become part of the official transcript, even if the course is not completed and the grade is a failing average. For this reason, it is important for students to complete all coursework in a timely manner. COST: $100 per course, Reduced $50.00, Free – Free Refunds will not be awarded if a student fails to complete the course in the allotted time or if the course is dropped after June 9, 2017. Attendance: Students must attend a mandatory orientation meeting on June 5 at 9AM and all tests must be taken in the lab with a proctor. Instructors may assign one “take home” test. Students may work from home and/or utilize the Clover High School Virtual lab housed in Room 231. The lab is open from 8AM – 4:30PM Monday – Friday, June 5 – June 30 (only 8AM – 12PM on Fridays). Transportation is the responsibility of the parent and student. It is strongly encouraged that students completing a class attend at least one session during the summer school program. [AM Session: 8:00AM – 12:00PM; PM Session: 12:30PM – 4:30PM] All courses must be completed on or before June 30, except PE 1. PE 1 computer assignments must be completed on or before June 30, the PE 1 Fitness Logs are due on or before August 4, 2017. These may be mailed or dropped at the main office. Drop Policy: Students who have not begun working on or before June 9, 2017 will be dropped without penalty, may not resume the course, and will forfeit all payments. Students wishing to withdraw without penalty after June 9, 2017 must have approval from Mrs. Allison or Mr. Ruth. Application Process: Students must complete the application, obtain a parent signature and return the completed and signed application to Ms. Jones, Counselor by June 2, 2017.
