A new interchange will be constructed halfway between Cudgerie Drive and Black Mountain Range Road to link
highway traffic to local roads and the existing highway.
The existing Cooroy southern interchange will be upgraded to allow for four highway lanes and separate highway traffic
from the local road network.

• The new interchange will support travel in any direction.
• The interchange will continue to support travel in any direction.
• Roundabouts will be provided east and west of the upgraded highway to provide an efficient connection between
highway traffic and the local road network.
• A new roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Nandroya Road and Myall Street. This new dual-lane
roundabout will:
- support high traffic volumes and accommodate future upgrades
• The existing highway will be connected to Cooroy Connection Road and serve as a link to the local road network
north of Cooroy.
- improve traffic efficiency in and out of Cooroy while maintaining a safe traffic environment
• Instead of transferring traffic from the new highway directly onto local roads, the interchange will transfer traffic
onto the existing highway.
• The interchange caters for current and future traffic demands with the potential for future upgrades to increase
capacity.
- cater for cyclists on one of the local Council’s cycle routes.
• Separation of the southbound interchange on-ramp to the highway from the local road network.
• Construction of a new four-lane overpass to replace the existing interchange overpass.
• An upgraded northbound interchange off-ramp from the highway including the overpass to provide safer and
more effective access to the local road network.
