Hood River Middle School’s Music and Science Building (Opsis Architecture) is featured in Trim
Tab, a quarterly magazine published by the International Living Future Institute. HRMS is currently in
its third year of exceeding net-zero energy and is the first public school to achieve NZEB Certification
through the Living Building Challenge. Project engineers Andy Frichtl and Andrew Craig contributed
to the piece, highlighting the significant role integrated design plays in sustainable design and the
steps that were taken to ensure this project achieved net-zero energy.
