Year 6 Newsletter
Summer Term
We hope that you had a relaxing,
but productive, Easter holiday and
are ready to work hard through this
exciting term.
Our creative curriculum topic this term is HEALTHY EATING and
SWEETS.
Literacy: Authors and Texts, Revision , SATs and
Formal/Impersonal Letter Writing.
Kensuke’s Kingdom Transition Unit and End of Year Performance.
Homework:
To be completed every week;
 Spellings
 Reading
 MyMaths
 1 task from homework sheet
(which will be stuck in their
homework book)
 Additional revision and work
in preparation for SAT’s
(refer to the homework sheet for more details)
Numeracy: Explaining Methods, Multi-Step Problems, Decimal
Notation, Mental and Written Calculations, Using Calculators,
Inverse Operations, Tabulate Systematically, Sequences,
Multiplication Facts, Place Value, Prime Numbers, 2D and 3D
Shapes, Solving Problems, Graphs and Tables, Averages,
Probability, Measure, Scales, Imperial Units, Perimeter, Angles,
Fractions, Percentages. Including transition work for Year 7.
Science: Micro-Organisms and Changing Circuits.
ICT: Revision and Computer Programming.
Art: Printing, 3D.
DT: Design, Make and Evaluate a Healthy Sweet inc. Ingredients
and Packaging.
Important dates:
P.S.H.E/ S.E.A.L.: Relationships
P.E. kit (including trainers) in school on
Monday and taken home on a Friday. Our
P.E. days are Monday (6D), Tuesday (6S)
and Thursday.
Homework books will be due in on a
Thursday and will be given back on a Friday.
Music: Devising, performing and evaluating advertisement jingle
P.E.: Gymnastics, Fielding and Net Games (Pro-Coach), Volleyball.
Primary Languages: French.
R.E.: Christianity, Hinduism.
Home-School Diaries need to be in school
daily. Please check your child’s diary
regularly and sign that you have seen it. We
will also take diaries in and sign them on a
Wednesday.
