012 – STAGE 1: CONCEPT NOTE TEMPLATE
Guidance
 It is essential that you have read and understood the Call for Concept Notes Guidance on the JPF
website www.jointpeacefund.org. You will find this document on the ‘Home’ page and the ‘Apply’
page. A Questions and Answers document is also available on the ‘Apply’ page. If you are unable to
locate these documents please email [email protected].
 Please use this template for your submission; Complete all white spaces. If you are writing by hand,
please use separate sheets of paper to answer each question.
 Your concept note should ideally not exceed 5 pages
 For every question your responses should take into account conflict sensitive, gender responsive and
inclusive principles. While there are separate sections to highlight actions in these areas, it is important
that they are reflected throughout every aspect of the project design.

2. Project Description
- State the main goal, objectives and/or outcomes of your project.
3. Justification
- How did you determine the need and demand for this project? Who were the stakeholders
consulted with and if and how were they involved in the design of the project?
- The JPF’s main aim is to support nationally driven efforts to achieving a sustainable peace process;
how does your concept meet or align with this aim?
- How is your organization qualified to address the problem you have identified?

- Include a brief background of this organisation and your experience in financial resources

5. Conflict Sensitive
- How do you understand the context your project plans to operate in, on the local, state/regional
and national level? How does your project fit within this context?
- What framework are you proposing to use to analyse and monitor conflict sensitivity?
- How is the project designed to respond to sensitivities in the context it is operating in?

- How might they be affected? (Different groups may be affected in different ways)

- What measures will you take to counter potential exclusion and to encourage inclusion throughout
the project?

- How will this project positively or negatively impact on men, women, boys, girls and transgender?
- If it does not impact any of the above groups, please explain.
7. Communications
- To what extent is communications with stakeholders appropriate and relevant in your proposed
project?
- If it is not relevant, please explain.
8. Risk Assessment
- What are the key risks that could affect this project and what strategies could be used to minimise
these risks?
9. Monitoring and Evaluation
- How will you measure change in your project?
- What systems will you put in place for learning and reporting?
- What capacity does your organization have to carry out the M&E function of the proposed project?
10. Technical Assistance
- Would you like to request any assistance in developing your project in areas such as Gender,
Communications, M&E, Finance, Conflict Sensitivity, Proposal Writing etc.? If so please explain the
nature of assistance required.
11. Budget

- The JPF offers smalls grants (under US$ 100,000) for which up to 5% can be claimed in
administration fees by the implementing partner. For large grants (over US$ 100,000) grants up to
5.5% can be claimed in administration fees by the implementing partner.
