Cutrine-Plus Granular is a convenient, ready to use, contact
algaecide especially formulated for the control of Chara,
Nitella, and other bottom growing algae in potable water
reservoirs, fire ponds, farm and fish ponds, golf course water
hazards, lakes, and fish hatcheries. Water from treated lakes
and ponds may be used to irrigate turf, fairways, putting
greens, and ornamental plants.

Cutrine-Plus Granular is a double-chelated copper solution
effective against a wide variety of algal species. Due to its
double-chelate it stays in the water column longer, and in
combination with its greater amount of activity in the plant can
be much more effective. Cutrine-Plus Granular is a clay based
3.7% absorbed copper in a chelated liquid form.
Use Cutrine-Plus Granular to easily control bottom algae or algae
growing within 3 feet of the bottom. Cat litter size granules settle
on algae and immediately begin attacking growth. Ideal for use on
Chara. Makes early season spot treatment of Filamentous Algae a
snap! Early treatment will help prevent the formation of heavy
surface mats.

Application
To apply simply broadcast granules uniformly over the water surface. Use 30 lbs. of Cutrine Plus
Granular per 0.50 surface acre or 60 lbs. per surface acre. Broadcast by hand or use a mechanical
spreader. Cutrine Plus Granular is formulated to release copper over an extended time period to
provide control in flowing water situations. The copper complex remains in solution to give longer
lasting results. An average of 5.5 weeks control was obtained in actual field tests

Cutrine Plus granular is very effective on bottom growing algae. For Chara algae control this is our
number #1 recommendation. Chara should be treated in spring and summer or when weed is soft and
supple. Mature, established Chara may become calcified in hard water and very difficult to control.
A single early application will usually control Chara for an entire season. Bottom growing
Filamentous Algae may require re-treatment for season long control. There is no minimum water
temperature recommended for use.
For Best Results
Begin application in spring as water temperature warms to 60º F and above. Early treatment when
growth first appears or begins to create a nuisance will reduce the amount of Cutrine Plus Granular
you will need. Early treatment will also reduce the amount of dead growth.
Control will last for several weeks to several months depending on local conditions. Several
applications will usually be required to maintain season long control. Retreat as re-growth begins to
appear. Allow 1 to 2 weeks between consecutive treatments.
For best results, use under conditions of minimum water flow. Apply early on the morning of a calm,
sunny day. Contact time should be at least 3 hours. Treat heavy infestations in sections to avoid
oxygen depletion.
Notices
Cutrine Plus Granular may be toxic to Trout if carbonate hardness of treated water is less than 50
ppm (parts per million). Most surface waters exceed this limit and pose no threat. If in doubt, use the
Water Hardness Test Strips. Do not use in water containing Koi or hybrid Goldfish.
Cutrine Plus Granular need sunlight to optimize effectiveness. Cutrine Plus is not completely effective
against Pithophora and diatoms.
*All pesticides can be harmful to health and the environment if misused. Read the label and follow
directions. Consult with your local regulatory agency before applying herbicides and algaecides to
public waters. There are herbicides from other states that are either not licensed in Wisconsin or
Illinois, or are not recommended by ABI.
A WI DNR Aquatic Plant Control Permit or DATCP Fish Farm License is required in WI in order
to apply algaecides or herbicides. In addition ponds and lakes with overflows not contained on the
property are required to obtain a WPDES permit. Illinois Residents are required to obtian NPDES
permits through theIllinois EPA.
In order to apply chemicals in liquid form within Wisconsin, the applicator must be licensed with the
State.
