I See Colors
Book Review
Joan Kornblatt, author, wanted to
write a book for children. The book
is full of colorful photographs from
Haiti. It makes you feel like you are
in Haiti. The book is written in
Kreyol and English so it feels more
authentic because it is in the
language of the country. There are a
lot of fruits, plants, animals, and
scenes from everyday life in Haiti
displayed in the book.

When we asked Mrs. Kornblatt why
she enjoys reading, she told us that
“Reading opens up a whole world of
adventure and imagination at any
moment! It broadens one's view of
the world and exposes us to
experiences we may never be able to
have in real life!”

Giving Back!
In an effort to help with the food crisis
facing many children in Haiti, all
proceeds from book sales are donated to
four schools in LaGonave, Haiti. Joan
Kornblatt partnered with Unforgettable
Bakery and Deli in Savannah to help with
the cause. Through their partnership, the
community is given the opportunity to
purchase the I See Colors book. All
profits from the book are donated to the
lunch program at the schools in Haiti.
The Unforgettable Bakery and Deli
owner is a native of Haiti and finds the
mission behind I See Colors to be a great
cause.
After visiting Haiti for more than 10
years, Joan Kornblatt wanted to help
the children of Haiti. She wrote the
book I See Colors to help provide
children in Haiti with nutritious meals.
We asked her how she came up with
the title. She told us that “the title I
See Colors just came to me right away
and never changed from that title! I
could see the cover layout in my mind
and knew that was what I wanted.”
