ABOUT FOXES FC
OUR PARTNERS
The young members of The Little Foxes Club from
the Kensington and Chelsea area thrived during
their football skills classes but had no outlet to play
football competitively. In response, Foxes Football
Club (Foxes FC) was founded in 2009 to address
these aspirations. After the unmitigated success of
our first season it was clear that Foxes FC had a place
in competitive youth football.
Foxes FC has partnerships with The Little Foxes
Club and Grassroot Soccer Charity. The Little Foxes
Club provides the link to Foxes FC for player and
coach recruitment. Our charity partner Grassroot
Soccer uses the power of football to educate, inspire
and empower communities to stop the spread of
HIV. Through this partnership GRS hopes to inspire
the young Foxes players with their work, helping
youth in Africa to lead healthy lives. Foxes FC are
supportive of Grassroot Soccer as they spread their
mission and message throughout the UK.
In operating a Youth Football Club, we place great
importance on our responsibility to provide a
platform on which young players can develop to
high standards.
As a club we are committed to, and abide by, the
rules and regulations set by the FA concerning
coaching, child safety and grassroots football
development. We have been awarded the FA Charter
Standard Club Mark after being recognised by the FA
for our high standards of coaching, administration,
child protection and commitment to improving the
standards of youth football.
The club currently has teams from Under 7’s to
Under 12’s competing in the West Middlesex
and Hayes Youth League as well as running a
development programme for players aged 6 – 12
years.
Foxes FC endeavors to provide a professional, safe
and respectful learning environment where players
are encouraged to progress and develop both as
footballers and as young people.
MEET SOME OF
“DEVELOPING PLAYERS FOR THE FUTURE”
OUR CORE PRINCIPLES
OUR DEDICATION
»» All players play in a safe, supportive, positive and
pressure-free environment that maintains the
needs and best interests of the player as the first
priority.
Running a successful Youth Football Club effectively
requires dedication and hard work; principally from
those involved in running the club but, also of the
players and parents. Working together we hope
to continue to provide a club that the community
is proud of. We believe that dedication in training,
sportsmanship on the pitch and a passion for the
game is what makes our youth football club and
teams so special.
»» All players are given the opportunity to practise
and play at a level that best suits their age, ability
and experience (within FA rules). In effect, players
are moved up and down age groups and teams
depending on how they develop physically,
mentally and technically.
»» All Foxes FC coaches and teams place emphasis on
player and team development. Winning is part of
the overall process; however it is not essential at
this stage of a player’s development.
»» All players participate in an environment that
teaches, promotes and demands important life
skills like leadership and commitment.
»» Foxes FC is player-centred, coach driven and club &
parent supported.
THE TEAM
LAST SEASON’S SUCCESS
The 2013/14 season was another successful year
for Foxes FC. Our Under 11’s became champions
after winning the Premier Division of the West
Middlesex and Hayes Youth League as well as
winning the Cup Final.
It has been a successful year for our Under 9’s
Orange team as they won the cup double with
wins in the Autumn and Spring cup competitions.
Our Under 7’s Silver Foxes also reached the finals of
the Spring Cup with some fantastic performances
along the way.
Elsewhere, there were promising signs of
development for our Under 10’s and Under 8’s age
groups who competed well within their divisions
and who are progressing strongly for next season.
The addition of the Development Squad was a
great success as the club initially had 34 players
begin the season with a further intake of 30 players
between January and April. The Development
Squad Programme has been designed to recruit
players with potential with the aim that, through
a structured training programme and quality
coaching, many of these players will progress into
our competitive teams for future seasons.
Elsewhere the club saw seven players trial with
local professional clubs such as Chelsea, Fulham,
Brentford and Arsenal. This was a fantastic
achievement for the club and a clear recognition
that the level of coaching our young players
receive provides an incredible opportunity to be
scouted and offered trials at professional clubs.
DEVELOPMENT SQUADS
WHAT IS THE DEVELOPMENT SQUAD?
The Foxes FC Development Squad provides a
key link between The Little Foxes Club and Foxes
FC partnership. It combines the supportive skills
training successfully applied within The Little Foxes
Club with the competitive energy of Foxes FC.
Training for our Development Squads will cover a
set curriculum, with emphasis placed on developing
players and preparing them for friendly matches and
tournaments.
WHO WE LOOK FOR?
The squad has been created for players who have
been identified as having strong potential; players
who we believe will benefit from our tailor made
programme. We hope that, with our guidance, these
players will progress to the level required to join our
Foxes FC competitive league teams.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Our training has an intense focus on player’s
technical abilities and we aim to improve their
understanding of how such skills are transferred to a
match situation. Squads are separated by age group;
each group has a permanent coach which enables
us to give detailed reports on progress. Our coaches
follow a set curriculum that includes a stage-bystage development plan for each individual player.
NEW FOR THIS SEASON
The club is conscious that the best way for children
to become better is ultimately by playing more
matches. New for the 2014/15 season: we will
introduce a real emphasis on match play. A series of
match days will be offered throughout the season.
Mini tournaments will be run per age group on
Sunday mornings at Hyde Park. This will provide the
perfect platform for the Development Squad to gain
some valuable match experience in a pressure-free
environment and put their skills into practice.
“FOOTBALL IS A MATTER OF CREATIVITY AND
IMAGINATION”
OUR LEAGUE TEAMS
The club currently competes in the West Middlesex
and Hayes Youth League. Under 7’s to Under 10’s
teams play in a non competitive league but they play
a series of mini tournaments throughout the season
in order to maintain a competitive experience.
TEAM AGE GROUPS
U7’s – Non-competitive – 5 a-side
U11s to U13’s teams compete in the West Middlesex
and Hayes Youth League. The season typically runs
from September through to May and matches take
place on Sunday mornings across West London.
U10’s – Non-competitive – 7 a-side
MORE ABOUT COMPETITIVE AND NONCOMPETITIVE TEAMS
The club currently plays both competitive and noncompetitive matches depending on age group.
Non-competitive means that there is no league table
or results published and that matches are played to
focus on player development rather than a win at all
costs. However, there will be two cup competitions
played throughout the season to ensure that a small
level of competition remains.
WHY HAVE THE FA DONE THIS?
The thinking behind it is to try to prevent a “win
at all costs” attitude and to change the way clubs
coach. It is aimed at preventing “winning tactics” i.e.
hitting the ball long and direct. The focus is on longterm player development and to provide pressurefree environment for young players to learn how to
play the game properly, and practise new skills and
techniques.
U8’s – Non-competitive – 5 a-side
U9’s – Non-competitive – 7 a-side
U11’s – Competitive – 9 a-side
U12’s – Competitive – 9 a-side
U13’s – Competitive – 11 a-side
TRAINING
All teams train on Saturday mornings between 9.30
& 12.00 at Hyde Park. Saturday morning training is a
mandatory requirement and all players are expected
to attend.
The club also offers an optional but recommended
midweek training session on Thursday between
16.30 & 18.30. The venue for the 2014/15 season is to
be confirmed but will remain in the Kensington and
Chelsea area.
THE FOXES EXPERIENCE
At Foxes FC we want to ensure that all of our players
and their families enjoy their experience whilst at our
club. On joining, all players will have the opportunity
to access complimentary additional training. We have
already seen what a difference this extra focus can
make over the course of the year.
TACTICAL WORKSHOPS
These workshops are a great opportunity for players
to gain additional knowledge and improve on specific
parts of their game play. The tactical workshops allow
players to understand the different positions and
roles that make up a team, as well as developing their
knowledge of how and when to use different tactics
and skills during match situations.
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
The sports science side of coaching has massively
increased in the last decade in order to help
athletes gain a better understanding of their bodies
and maximise their performance. Strength and
conditioning training can help players build healthy
muscles, joints and bones as well increase agility,
balance and co-ordination. With our properly
designed, age appropriate and supervised programme
these exercises can help children build a sense of
balance, control and awareness of their bodies.
FUTSAL
Futsal is played on a hard court surface where walls
and sideboards are not used. A smaller ball with less
bounce is used rather than a regular football due to
the surface of the pitch. This format of the game has an
emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as
well as ball control and passing in small spaces. There
will be opportunities throughout the season for our
players to access Futsal coaching in a series of sessions.
GOALKEEPING CLINC
Foxes FC has recognised that there is a much needed
place for specific goalkeeping coaching. As a club, we
believe in maximising the potential of each individual
player including the goalkeeper. The clinics will
cover all aspects of goalkeeping from handling and
positioning to distribution. We encourage all players to
attend these clinics as they are great fun and a fantastic
way of developing their overall game.
EXPERIENCE MORE
FOXES FUN DAYS OUT
Every season we like to give our young players an
experience they will never forget. Our Foxes Fun
Days Out are a great way for the children to bond
with their team mates and take part in some great
activities that will leave them with lasting memories.
In recent seasons our Fun Days Out have included
Lazer Quest, Chessington World of Adventures and a
Barclays Premier League match.
SUMMER TOURNAMENTS
Once the season has finished we feel it is important
that our young players continue to gain valuable
match play experience. Therefore, we enter all of
our teams into Summer tournaments in order to
give as much game time over the closed season as
possible. In recent seasons our teams have been
very successful in these tournaments and have been
winners of their respective age groups.
END OF SEASON AWARDS NIGHT
Every season we like to celebrate the achievements
and development of our young players. Our Annual
Awards Evening is a big hit with our families as the
night not only provides recognition but also fantastic
entertainment!
PARENT’S TOURNAMENTS
Throughout the season we will be running a series of
parent’s football tournaments in the Autumn, Spring
and Summer terms. These events have been an
enormous success and are a great way to show your
children where they got their talent from! This is also
a fantastic social event and an opportunity to forge
relationships with other parents within the club.
SUMMER TOURS
The club is exploring the possibility of an
International Club Tour in the Summer of 2015. This
will be an exciting opportunity for our young players
to experience another culture both in football and
social terms.
