Special Note from the FRC staff
We love working with Gallatin County’s children and their
families. We spend hours of planning special clubs and a
variety of activities and we enjoy every minute of preparation
and facilitating the activities. It would make our jobs so much
easier if all parents would take note of the times that our clubs
end and pick their children up at the specified time. If you post
our monthly calendar on your refrigerator or mark your
calendar of events, this will help with the situation. If you
cannot pick up your child at the specified time, please do not enroll your child for
the activity. We understand emergency situations, but during the month of
September we had several children who were picked up extremely late. Thank you
for helping us with the situation for the rest of the school year. We extend a special
“Thank You” to the parents who always pick their children up on time.
Cooking Creations – Grades 4 & 5
This new club will be offered on two different dates during
the month of October. We are happy that so many
students are interested in this club, but we are going to
have to limit the number of children to 15 for each session.
The first 15 who turn in their permission slips will be
able to participate.
Monday Movement – Grades 4 & 5

football players. Students will learn from the football team what foods are
important for them to eat before a game. At the end of the meeting football
players will pass football with the students and then they’ll share a snack. Students
may bring one adult guest with them to the FOOTBALL, YEAH!! Bookworm Buddies

It’s Time to Start Thinking about Christmas!
If your family will need assistance at Christmas time with gifts, now
is the time to apply. Please pick up an application at Community
Action. The deadline for the application is Monday, November 12th.
This program is not to provide all of your family’s gifts, but only help
with gifts. To receive help you will need to take two classes offered
by the Extension Office, Community Action, or Family Resource
Center. More information about classes can be found on your
application. You may call Matt at Community Action for more information. (859)567-4660

played a role in apron styles and use.
Over 100 aprons will be displayed representing styles from the late 1800’s

permission slips for children who have been referred by
their teachers. If your child received this information,
please return it as soon as possible.
Some Helpful Tips for Helping Your Child with Homework
1. Make your child aware of his or her improvement
2. Direct praise to the task at hand.
3. Try not to show disappointment if your child doesn’t do as well as
you’d like.
4. Be enthusiastic.
5. Be prepared to teach as well as help.
6. Use concrete, hands-on materials whenever possible.
7. Provide variety. Switch from one subject to another and take breaks
to keep attention.
8. Encourage independence.
9. Show a positive attitude toward your child’s school and teacher. Work
with the teacher not against him/her. Taken from: About.com
