TOPIC: VOCAB BUILDING
1. Make a Dictionary out of a scrapbook penning down the difficult words with their
meanings in a neat sequence from Lesson I,2 and 4 of your Maincourse Book.
Make a separate page under the heading‘ Homonym Counter’ and write any I0
Homonyms of your choice with their meanings.
(note: Homonym are the words that differ in spelling and meaning but sound alike eg.
Storey and Story)
Make your Dictionary cover attractive by adding suitable pictures or drawings .You can
also give a suitable title to your project.
2. Learn spellings of new words from the lessons included in FA-I and FA-2 and take
dictation once a week on a separate thin notebook
MATHS:
1. MATHEMATICAL DICTIONARY:
A dictionary tells us the meaning of words, make your own dictionary of
mathematical words alphabetically. Write the definition and draw a diagram to
illustrate it. Keep adding new words to this dictionary.
Examples:
a. Sum: It is the answer when two or more numbers are added.
Eg. 4+2 = 6 ( 6 is the sum )
b. Addends: The two numbers which are to be added are called
addends.
Eg. 4+2 = 6 ( 4 and 2 are the addends)
(Note:-Take 3-3 words per alphabet)
2. CREATING CROSSWORD:
It is fun to solve crossword puzzles so how about creating some for yourself.
Using the clues given below , create crossword puzzles. (See the example given
below)

3. MASK MAKING:
There is a long tradition of ‘MASK MAKING’ by using everyday material from
around the home. Use these materials to design a mask for your face using
mathematical shapes and symbols. ( see the examples given below)
4. MATHEMATICAL TABLES :
Learn and write tables from 2 to 16 , each table to be written 2 times. Do 20
assignments of dodging tables ( 10 questions each) in the same notebook.
Note: 1. Make a colourful folder (with spiral binding) and do Q. 1, 2
and 3 in it.
2. Make a separate thin notebook and do Q.4 in it.

LET’S KNOW SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT PLANTS
1. Activity has to be done by everyone according to the Roll No.:
a) Activity – Stem carries water in plants. ( Roll no. : 1 to 14 )
Take a plant that has soft stem and clean its roots. Take a jar of water, add red ink
to it. Put the plant in the jar in such a way that only the roots are dipped in the
coloured water. Observe the plant after few hours. Do you see any change in the
stem or the leaves write your observation in the scrap file with pictures.
b) Take a potato and put it in such a place that it gets air and moisture and
observe it after few days. Do you see any change write your observation in the
scrap file with pictures. ( Roll no. : 15 to 28 )
c) Put some gram seeds into the soil of a flower pot ( mud ). Keep giving water to
the soil and put in sunlight. Observe it after a week. Do you find any change
write in the scrap file and bring the flower pot to the school after vacation. ( Roll
no. : 29 onwards )
Do the above activities just few days before the end of summer vacations and
bring to the school whenever asked.
2. Make the following models and chart according to the Roll No.
Models for alternate or exhaustible sources of energy
a) Windmill to produce electricity ---- Roll No. 1 – 8
b) Solar heater to warm up water ---- Roll No. 9 – 16
c) Dam :- energy of moving water is used to produce electricity ---- Roll No. 17 –
24
d) Model of India : - mark 5 Geographical regions with proper colour as given in
the book on (page no. 100) ---- Roll No. 25 - 32
e) Draw and label different types of teeth in humans on the chart paper. Write in
tabular form as given in the book (page no – 7)the no of different teeth in a
child and an adult ----- Roll No. 33 onwards.
NOTE : - Make model and chart neatly and properly so that it can be displayed in
exhibition after summer vacation. Use only card board or chart
(ecofriendly thing)
