Swachhta Pakhwada (16th to 30th June 2017)

The Director, CMLRE inaugurated the Swachhta Pakhwada (16th to 30th June 2017) at CMLRE. The
Director informed all on the importance of the Swachhta Pakhwada initiatives launched by the
Government and the activities that need to be initiated in CMLRE during the period was discussed. The
Director stressed that, the CMLRE should go beyond from the R&D activities, into the society and should
be able to pass on the message of Swachhta Pakhwada to the common man.
Dr. A Shivaji, Head of Office, gave an awareness talk on the importance of cleanliness in office as well as
onboard FORV Sagar Sampada and how it improves the working culture.
Activities like general cleaning of office and changing of old file covers were started.
19th & 20th June 2017: Lab cleaning at CMLRE : A thorough cleanship of all labs,
segregation of old items and rearranging of labs were undertaken.
Cleaning activities onboard FORV Sagar Sampada : Swatchta Pakhwada was also observed
onboard FORV Sagar Sampada. All labs, living spaces were cleaned and all unwanted items
were segregated for disposal.

A cleaniness drive was undertaken by CMLRE to improve the cleaniness of the premises of the
State Juvenile Home, Kakkanad, Kochi and to make an awareness on waste management.

29th Jun 2017: Planting of trees in CMLRE New Campus at Puthuvypeen
30th June 2017: An awareness programmes on Swatchh Abhiyan launched by the
Government of India in Schools and a Drawing competition for children on ‘Cleaniness”
was organized.
30th June 2017: The Swachhta Pakhwada (16th to 30th June 2017) at CMLRE was concluded by a
session in the afternoon. The Head of the Office, Dr. A. Shivaji, briefed on the various activities that were
conducted during the Pakhwada. He appreciated all for taking additional responsibilities during the busy
schedules of CMLRE and thanked all for active participation. He also conveyed that the motive of
swatchhta Pakhwada should be continued in the office.
