When young players are trained in the basicsofrulesandgolfetiquettetheywillhavethefoundation tobecometomorrow’smodelsofsportsmanship.Intheoverall game of life, golf strokes and trophies have little or no value. The underlying character that we call sportsmanship will. The valuesofhonesty,self-relianceandrespecttowardsothersform theheartofgolf. Thegolfinstructoristhecoachorrolemodelandthis responsibility will not be taken lightly. With enthusiasm, honesty,sincerity,andasenseoffairplaywewillstrivetoinstill these values into young golfers and teach them the swing fundamentals. We will reward good behavior, concentration, sustainedeffort,andsportsmanship.Aboveallelsegolfshould befunandenjoyable. DRESSCODE Thefollowingdresscodemustbeobservedbyallplayers: AppropriateAttireforBoysisagolfshirtwithacollar, slacksorBermudashorts.NOJEANS,TANKTOPS, GYMSHORTS,ORBICYCLESHORTSWILLBEALLOWED. AppropriateAttireforGirlsisagolfshirtwithcollar, golfteeshirts,slacksorBermudashorts(nomore than4inchesabovetheknee).NOBAREMIDRIFFS, HALTERTOPS,JEANS,ORSHORTSHORTSWILLBE ALLOWED. Allplayersmustwearsoftspikedgolfshoesor sneakers. Thosenotinaccordancewiththeabovedresscode willbeexcusedfromthatday’sclinicorplayday andallowedbackonlywhendressedinappropriate attire. MEMBERSHIP&FEES TheSignatureofSolonJuniorGolfProgramisopentochildren andgrandchildren,ages8-17,ofmembersofallmembership categories. Thefeeis$150perjunior.Feeincludesattendance tounlimitednumberofclinics,playdays,andfamilyscrambles. GUIDELINES&EXPECTATIONS USGARULESOFGOLFwillgovernplayatalltimes. Alljuniorsareencouragedtofamiliarizethemselves withtherulesandcarrytheUSGARuleBookwith thematalltimes. Golfetiquetteisaveryimportantconsideration andalljuniorsareexpectedtobehaveinaccordance withtherulesprescribedbytheClub.Playersmust becarefultonotdamagethegolfcourseduring normalcourseofplay.Playersareresponsiblefor maintainingthegolfcoursebyreplacingalldivots, repairingallballmarks,andrakingbunkers. Slowplaywillnotbetolerated.Alwaysbereadyto playwhenitisyourturn.Makesurethatyourgroup maintainsitspositionwiththegroupahead GENERALPROVISIONS Playersinthe3,6,9and18holeprogramareexpectedtosign up at least a day in advance for any clinics they wish to participateinorforanyJuniorGolfPlayDays.Youmaysign upbycontactinggolfshopat(440)248-4573 PairingsforJuniorGolfPlayDaywillbedecidedbytheGolfStaff usingthelistofchildrenthatsignedupaheadoftime.Itis importanttonotethatoneofthemanyaspectsinthegame ofgolfistolearnhowtoplayandsocializewithcompetitors ofallage,skill,andsex.Therefore,pairingswillbeassigned withtheintentionofrotatingplayersintodifferentfoursomes eachweek. Playersareexpectedtoarrive15minutesaheadoftimeonPlay Days.Thisistoensurethatallchildrenwantingtoplaythat morningareabletobeinathreesomeorfoursomeandcan startplaypromptlyat7:45. Forchildreninthe3and6holeprogram,oneparentwillbe requiredtowalkwitheachgrouponPlayDays.Whensigning upyourchildwiththegolfshopforaPlayDayinthe3or6 hole division, please let the Golf Staff know whether or not youareavailabletoaccompanyagroup. BOY’S&GIRL’SPLAYEROFTHEYEAR The Player of the Year Award is intended to acknowledge children who work hard all summer to improve their game through clinic and play day participation as well as daily personalpractice. AllJunior’sparticipationwillbetrackedthroughapointsystem. Attheendoftheyear,theboyandgirlwiththemostpointswill benamesthePlayeroftheYear. Pointsareawardedasfollows: PlayingonPlayDay: 7points ClinicParticipation: 7pointsperclinic PersonalPractice: 2pointsperhalf-hour.(Daily maximumof8points) CERTIFIEDJUNIORGOLFER Juniorsage12andundermayenrollintheCertifiedJuniorGolfer Programtoenablethemtoplayonthecoursewithoutbeing accompaniedbyanadult.Thecertificationprocesswillconsistof 3levelsofplayingabilityandtests. Level1 To pass level 1, the junior golfer must pass a written test and break70for9holesofgolfatSignature,playingfromtheGreen Tees.Allroundsmustbeplayedwithanadult,inaccordancewith USGARules,andhaveanattestedscorecard. Level2 Topasslevel2,thejuniorgolfermustpassawrittentest,askills test,andbreak60for9holesofgolfatShaker,playingfromthe Green Tees. All rounds must be played with an adult, in accordancewithUSGARules,andhaveanattestedscorecard. Level3 Topasslevel3,andbecomeaCertifiedJuniorGolfer,thejunior golfermustpassawrittentestandbreak55for9holesofgolfat Shaker, playing from the Green Tees. All rounds must be played with an adult, in accordance with USGA Rules, and have an attestedscorecard.
