Leading Excellence in Perinatal and Women’s Health Nursing
À la poursuite de l’excellence en soins infirmiers, en périnatalité et en santé des femmes
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – CAPWHN BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Dear CAPWHN Member,
The Canadian Association of Perinatal and Women’s Health Nurses (CAPWHN) Board of Directors is
extending a call for nominations for positions starting October 23, 2016. CAPWHN is seeking to fill open
positions on the board of directors to help lead the Association, which is committed to excellence in
reproductive, sexual, and women’s health care and advancing the providers of that care.
CAPWHN’s Board of Directors includes a minimum of seven and maximum of 12 directors. The term of
office is two years, renewable once. The bylaws state that renewal of terms requires re-election. Three
directors have not yet completed their two year term and will be moving into the second year of their
terms. These directors are not up for election, and have been appointed to the following positions
through 2017:
Sharon Dore – Hamilton ON (President)
Jennifer Marandola – Montreal QC (Regional Director – Quebec)
Fabienne Morton – Lethbridge AB (Treasurer)
CAPWHN’s Bylaws state that there must be at least one director from each of the following regional
areas:
 British Columbia / Alberta / Yukon
 Saskatchewan / Manitoba / Northwest Territories
 Ontario
 Quebec
 Atlantic Provinces / Nunavut
The Nomination Committee will work towards establishing a regional balance in the composition of the
board by seeking candidates from different regions of the country as well as ensuring diversity in
relation of language, professional backgrounds, and personal experience. Note that the membership will
elect directors. Specific board positions will be appointed by the elected Board of Directors following the
Annual General Meeting.
Board positions include Regional Directors for CAPWHN’s five geographical regions and Directors at
Large, who are responsible for specific portfolios (such as communications and membership) and can be
from any geographic region. Details regarding the positions are available from CAPWHN.
