We hope all families, children and educators had a
wonderful Christmas and we wish you all a fantastic
New Year.
Our annual Christmas Party was a great success, a big
thank you to all the wonderful families and children
who attended and a special thank you to Santa who did
a wonderful job at handing out lolly bags to the
children.
2017 is shaping up to be a great year at Play’s Kool
Mandurah with lots of activities and experiences
planned. If you have any great ideas or suggestions of
what you would like to see implemented at Play’s Kool
please feel welcome to let me know.

SUNSMART
Play’s Kool is a SunSmart Centre and we require all
children to bring their hats with them on a daily basis
and parents are to ensure children are dressed in
SunSmart clothing. We kindly ask all families to get
involved with encouraging their children to apply their
own sunscreen when they arrive each day at our
SunSmart (sunscreen) station. There are wipes and
sanitiser to help wash your hands afterwards. It is the
parent’s responsibility to ensure children have
sunscreen applied prior or upon arrival so there is
adequate time for the sunscreen to take effect.
As with every policy review, a copy will be displayed in the main foyer of our
Centre. All comments and feedback you have for our consideration is greatly
appreciated and always important as part of our policy improvement initiative.
Wear a hat that provides good shade to the face, back of the neck, eyes and ears.
Broad-brimmed and bucket hats provide the most UV radiation protection for the face
and head. Legionnaire hats also provide good UV radiation protection. Baseball caps
do not protect the head and face. Wearing a hat with a brim that shades the eyes can
also reduce UV radiation to the eyes by 50%.
Broad-brimmed Hat Brims should shade the face, neck and ears.
Bucket Hat Bucket or surfer-style hats should have a deep crown
and sit low on the head. The angled brim should provide the face,
neck and ears with plenty of shade.
Legionnaire Hat Legionnaire hats should have a flap that covers
the neck. The side flap and front peak should meet to protect the
side of the face. Legionnaire hats are more suited to people who
are active or doing activities involving bending.
Baseball caps and visors offer little protection to the cheeks, ears
and neck and are therefore NOT recommended.
IMMUNISATIONS
Please remember to let us know of any updates to
your children’s immunisation register by allowing us to
take a copy.
SLEEPING AT THE CENTRE
If all families could please remember to bring in the
bedding required for their children on each day of
attendance. This should consist of one set of cot
sheets as well as a thin blanket stored inside a pillow
case which we will have organised for you to take
home again at the end of each day. If you do not
provide any bedding we will assume your child does
not require a sleep on that day.
