Ashley C of E Primary School An Academy in the Good Shepherd Trust No: 08366199 Ashley Road, Walton on Thames Surrey KT12 1HX Tel: 01932 227695 Email: [email protected] Headteacher: Mr R J Dunne Email: [email protected] www.ashleyschool.org.uk Monday 8th May 2017 Dear Parents, Year 4 trip to Bore Place Organic Farm – Thursday 8th June As part of next half term’s learning enquiry ‘When is food at its best?’ Year Four have the exciting opportunity to visit Bore Place Organic Farm in Kent. At the farm, the children will be able to better understand the importance of organic farming and food production; they will also be able to learn how a working dairy farm operates, seeing the milking session and how the farm minimises waste and ensures high animal welfare. There will also be the chance to use the farm kitchen to make butter from the cows’ milk. The children will need to wear home clothes appropriate for a muddy farm, as well as bringing a waterproof coat if the weather forecast is poor. Two pairs of footwear are essential: wellies for outside and trainers for the coach/inside. Please ensure wellies are brought to school in a separate bag. We will be leaving school at 8.55am, so please make sure your child is at school f 8.45am that day. We will return to school at 4.20pm – please note this time as you will need to collect your child later than usual. Please provide your child with a packed lunch and a water bottle. If your child has school lunches, they will be provided with a school packed lunch – please complete the form below, and provide your child with a lunchbox and water bottle. The cost of the trip is £22.60 per child, which includes coach travel to and from the farm, entrance fees and the educational activities. Please note this is the only cost we will be asking of you for the rest of the school year. Knowing this trip is slightly more expensive, we have tried to keep other costs for the year to a minimum. All contributions are voluntary (please refer to the ‘Charges and Remissions Policy’ on the school website) but please note that should we not be able to cover our cost the trip may be cancelled as the school cannot absorb any shortfall in expenses. We would like two extra adult helpers per class to accompany the trip, so if you are able to help please let us know on the form below. Yours sincerely, Miss Greaves, Mr Cadman and Mrs Morgan ___________________________________________________________________________________________ PLEASE RETURN TO YOUR CLASS TEACHER BY MONDAY 22nd MAY I give permission for my child to take part in the visit to Bore Place Farm on Thursday 8th June.
