Innovative Technology for Consistent Therapy
Brio™ Rechargeable IPG
Increased Surgical Efficiencies
The smallest, longest-lasting DBS IPG for enhanced patient satisfaction.
1, 2
The Brio IPG offers numerous configuration options and an easy-to-use
charging system to maximize success in therapy management. With
its small size and 2.5-cm allowable implant depth, it provides flexibility
in pocket placement, reduces palpability and improves cosmesis. It
also features an easy-to-use wireless charging system. Approved for at
least 10 years of use with no manufacturer-imposed shut-off date, the
Brio IPG is intended to reduce replacement procedures and is ideal for
patients with low to high power requirements who will benefit from an
extended battery life and are willing to follow a recharge protocol.
St. Jude Medical DBS systems are designed to maximize procedural efficiency.
All St. Jude Medical DBS IPGs feature constant current pulse delivery, which
automatically compensates for changes in impedance to maintain a consistent
stimulation field. They are also capable of using electrode arrays with more
than one active cathode (a multipolar array), providing more options to match
the stimulation field to the needs of the patient than systems that
support only single cathode arrays.
The Constant Current Difference
„„
LibraXP ™ IPG
The LibraXP IPG offers exceptional flexibility. It features the
highest battery capacity in a DBS IPG by at least 40%, which
may result in fewer replacement surgeries and thus fewer
interruptions in therapy. The LibraXP IPG is also the thinnest
dual-channel primary cell DBS IPG on the market. With an
implant depth of up to 4.0 cm and the ability to support
unilateral or bilateral stimulation, it offers a broad range of
implant and programming options. The LibraXP IPG is the
ideal choice for those who require bilateral stimulation with
the benefits of a primary cell IPG.
„„
Collapse-resistant Tunneling Tool
Fast, easy connections require the tightening
of only one setscrew, improving the efficiency
of the procedure.
„„
„„
As stimulation is delivered to the tissue, electrochemical reactions occur at the
electrodes, causing the tissue impedance to increase as the pulse is delivered.
onstant current devices automatically compensate for rising impedance by
C
increasing the voltage within each pulse, thereby maintaining a consistent
stimulation field for the full duration of the pulse.
onstant voltage devices do not compensate for this increasing impedance;
C
therefore, the stimulation field gets smaller as the pulse is delivered.
„„
Solid yet shapeable, the tunneler is designed
to enhance pushability and maneuverability.
Bootless Extensions
Built-in Strain Relief
„„
Highest-capacity DBS IPG for maximum flexibility.3
Single Setscrew Connections
„„
An integrated strain relief system is designed
to reduce steps during surgery by eliminating
the need for suturing.
Self-sealing septum and individually sealed
compartments eliminate the need for an outer
boot, saving procedure time and minimizing
device profile.
Broad Programming Options
St. Jude Medical DBS systems are designed to provide more control to both the physician and the patient.
Versatile Clinician Programmers
„„
Constant Current Delivers a Constant Stimulation Field.4
Featuring multiple programming options,
the clinician programmers are designed
to enable a closer match between patients’
needs and the stimulation settings for
better symptom management and more
efficient use of battery power.
„„
A broad frequency range with a 2-Hz step size
provides options to fine-tune treatment.
„„
A wide amplitude range, featuring 256 settings,
is designed to optimize therapy and maximize
battery longevity.
Constant Voltage
Easy-to-use Patient Controllers
„„
The patient controllers empower patients to adjust
stimulation within clinician-prescribed limits.
„„
With the ability to self-manage stimulation settings,
patients have more control over their therapy, which
may reduce the number of reprogramming visits.
Complementary Leads and Accessories
St. Jude Medical DBS IPGs are compatible with a full complement of leads and accessories for enhanced
precision, efficiency and patient comfort.
Libra™ IPG
Highest battery capacity in its class for extended therapy delivery.3
Low-profile Extensions
ActiveTip ™ Lead Technology
The Libra IPG is designed to be long-lasting, easy to implant and
simple to manage. It features the highest battery capacity in its class
(by 40%), which may result in fewer replacement procedures. With an
allowable implant depth of 4.0 cm, the Libra IPG offers broad flexibility
during the implant procedure and may improve patient cosmesis. It is
an excellent choice for smaller patients, patients receiving a unilateral
implant, or patients receiving a bilateral implant who would benefit
from the programming flexibility and confidence that two independent
IPGs provide.
„„
Constant Current
Electrically active tips provide more options for
placement of the stimulation field.
„„
Lower-profile extensions are designed to improve
patient comfort, cosmesis and satisfaction.
„„
The low-profile design may reduce risk of erosion,
thereby decreasing the risk of having to reoperate.
Highly Efficient Leads and Extensions
Intrapulse Time (µs)
Neural Target
Constant Voltage Stimulation
Constant Current Stimulation
„„
Leads feature stranded wiring for minimal impedance.
„„
With low-impedance leads and extensions, the DBS
systems are designed for efficiency, which may
prolong battery life and extend the time between
battery replacements or recharging.
Auto-capture Lead Fixation System
„„
The Guardian™ burr hole cover system features
a self-locking clip and flexible base to reduce
complexity and enhance control in DBS lead fixation.
