Language and Cognition - some psycholinguistic insights

Language and Cognition - some psycholinguistic insights
Barbara Mertins
The evidence that language, specifically grammar, affects the way we perceive, organize and talk
about the world around us is mounting.
In my talk I will critically review and discuss a number of behavioral and experimental studies showing

In addition, I will address the scope of such effects and make some remarks on how foreign language
and bilingual speakers think in two languages.
In conclusion I will present recent data pointing to cognitive advantages of the bilingual mind.
