Congratulations to Paula Baker (third row center), our Team Leader in
Derry for completing her recent training to be an Intentional Peer Support
Trainer! No small feat! We’re so proud of you!!! Whoo-Hoo!
What this means for On the Road to Wellness (OTRTW) is that we have,
on site, a well trained, well versed individual who now, not only practices
Intentional Peer Support, but is well equipped to coach, train, encourage,
and model the principles and precepts of IPS to other staff and members
alike.
OTRTW is delighted to not only have
Paula as a valuable resource for our
own agency, but to be a part of a
state-wide team of trainers to invest
in the lives of others so that those
wrestling with their mental health can
find true wellness … intentionally!

What Will Be Your Dash?
Recently while waiting in my doctor’s office I had the opportunity
to read a short article by Greg Winslow, a pastor of a local church,
that set me to thinking. The article is about the “Dash” that we see
on most grave stones in the cemetery, you know, the one between
the year you were born and the year you died.
So I ask you, what will your dash say about you? Will it say you
were kind and gentle, or insensitive and rude? Will it say you were
a voice of hope and wisdom, or will say you were the voice of fear
and disdain. Will it say you were a people person, one who had the time to listen to hear what
people were saying or not saying, like the “untold story,” or were you impervious to another’s plea
for help?
Yes, we all will have a dash, there is no escaping this reality. However, we are given the opportunity
of defining the dash! We go past a myriad of opportunities to define our dash every day of our lives.
Many times without even thinking about the dash.
I have been thinking about my dash and reflecting about redefining my dash. It is never too late to
make an adjustment. It isn’t always easy, but it can be done! Intentional Peer Support and On the
Road to Wellness has taught me that it is possible. Members have taught me some very valuable
lessons. Perhaps most importantly is to be a good listener and listen for the untold story with
compassion and sensitivity.
Lastly, I humbly ask you to examine your “dash.” If you find it “wanting,” I hope you will be granted
the courage and wisdom to redefine your “dash” of life so it becomes a legacy that will inspire others!
Always with positive thoughts and hope for your wellness!

Derry’s Open House a Success
We want to express our deepest
gratitude for those who made the
move to our new facilities in Derry a
great success … our Board of
Directors for their supportive
decision to make the move; to the
Town of Derry for giving us
permission to occupy the space; to
our landlord for trusting us and
working with us in the process; to
the hard-working staff who packed,
planned, sparkle-cleaned the old site,
and then made the new space alive,
inviting, and fully functional. And,
maybe most importantly, our
members, who now only participated
in all the things mentioned above, but
have grown in their wellness
sufficiently that it has inspired others
to do the same … the result …
others seeing your victories and
wanting the same in their lives, which
caused us to out-grow the facilities we were in to where we are now. To say, “Great Job” falls too
short of what you’ve accomplished. Great job, nonetheless … you truly keep us moving toward!
Lastly, thank you to all who came out to celebrate with us … Board members, local supporters,
other peer agencies, members and more. Thank you for believing in us!
