Last year's inaugural Gala was a resounding success - over 200 people attended a sumptuous dinner dance and proudly raised over $100,000 in a single glorious evening! We hope to top that this year, and to ultimately establish the "Ghostly Gala" as the premiere annual, go-to Halloween charity event in Los Angeles. The Gala Committee is already working diligently to raise funds for the FSH Society, the world’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). FSHD robs sufferers of the muscles they need to pursue their livelihoods, smile, blink, or even hug their children. It is a genetic disorder, and affected parents have a 50 percent chance of passing the mutation to each of their children. Right now, there is no treatment or cure. The FSH Society is worthy of our enthusiastic support. Almost no other organization directs such a large percentage--87%--of every dollar it raises directly to programs serving FSHD patients and research. For this outstanding performance, it has been awarded Charity Navigator's Four-Star award for the eighth consecutive year, ranking it among the top 2 percent of U.S. charities for exceptional fiscal performance and transparency. Our Board and Gala Committee are all directly affected by FSHD, either because they have the condition, or a loved one is afflicted. Your support will have a great impact on them, as well as the nearly one million people who live with FSHD. Please consider hosting a table at this year’s gala (or share hosting duties with a friend) and introduce your friends and associates to a superlative evening of fun in support of a great cause. Please respond by September 7, 2016 to help us stay on schedule to produce our sponsor letter and invitation. Thank you for your generous consideration to support a cause that is so near and dear to my heart. I so look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, June June Kinoshita, Executive Director, FSH Society 2016 Ghostly Gala 2 Host Committee
