1 Training Focus – Running With the Ball • Introduction - Warm up • Skill Training - Main Part • Skill Training Game Running With The Ball – Introduction Objective: 3 1 2 To improve running with the ball. Organization: 2 Areas, 1 group use right foot other group use left foot 5m Players are split between the 2 starting gates. Player 1 has a ball to start, Player 1 runs with the ball and plays a pass between the gates(1m apart) they then join the other line. Player 2 receives and repeats action at the other end. After players are familiar with the exercise introduce a 2nd ball. 1 2 Progression: 20m 1. Left foot only (move starting markers to other side so they finish playing a left foot pass) 1 2. Outside of the left 3. Outside of the right. 4. After player passes the ball they then run around gate and chase the player with the ball. Methodical development: 2 4 1 First team to make a mistake sits down Adjust distance of the run Adjust size of the gate they have to pass through Running With The Ball - Skill Training Objective: GK To Improve players speed while running with the ball. 10m 3-4m Organization: Players split into 2 groups. Player with the ball runs towards the small gate and stops the ball in the middle and then runs around pole to become the defender. As soon as the defender stops the ball the Attacker takes the ball and runs at speed into the scoring zone and finishes on goal. Players swap positions. 2 poles are placed 1m from posts(only goals scored in this area count. Scoring Zone Progression: 15m 1 Add a 2nd defender who starts from the same place as the Attacker but does not become active until the Attacker has moved or taken their first touch on the ball. 1 1 3 Methodical development: 2 4 Step Up - Move starting point of defender closer. Move shooting zone further away from goal 1 2 3 4 Step Down - Move starting point of defender further away. Move shooting zone closer to goal Running With The Ball - Skill Training Game Objective: GK To see if learning has taken place in a game environment. 1 5 Organization: 2 6 ` Pitch size 30m long x 25m wide, 2 goals at each end with GK’S, Field is split into 3 zones each 10m long. Teams play 6v6(adjust the size of the pitch if playing 5v5 or 4v4) to cross each zone the player with the ball must run with the ball across each zone (ball cannot be passed across) 30m 4 3 Progression: 3 4 1. Players stay in a set zone and 1 player can only move into the next zone(3v2) if they run the ball into the zone. 2. Free game 6 5 2 1 Step Up - Decrease size of the pitch. GK 25m Methodical development: Step Down - Increase size of the pitch.
