WATER FACILITIES PLAN For the Suncoast Parkway II Water Main

WATER FACILITIES PLAN
For the Suncoast Parkway II Water
Main Extension Project
Ken Cheek, P.E., Water Resources Director
Citrus County Water Resources Department
Background
Ø This Water Facility Plan (WFP) has been developed in support of
acquiring funding from the State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan
program to enable water distribution system improvements for an
interconnecting water system between the Charles A Black (CAB)
water system and the Sugarmill Woods (SMW) water system.
Water Facilities Plan
As part of the SRF process, the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection (FDEP) requires a WFP to be submitted and must meet the
requirements of the SRF loan program. This WFP includes the

Project Description
Ø This project will include the construction of a water
transmission main through the Central region of the
county to interconnect the Charles A. Black (CAB)
water system to the Sugarmill Woods water system.
Ø Various routes for the transmission line were
investigated and the most probable route is to utilize
the new Suncoast Parkway extension corridor and
the multi-use trail right of way located adjacent to
the parkway.
Project Map
Charles A. Black Water Service Area
(Existing System)
Ø The CAB Water System is composed of watermains from 2inch up to 24-inch in diameter. The system contains
approximately 690,000 feet of watermain (6-inch and larger).
Ø The WUP Permit allows for withdrawal of 4,597,000 mgd
annual average daily flow and peak month average
withdrawal of 6,574,000 mgd.

Sugarmill Woods Water Service Area
(Existing System)
Ø The Sugarmill Woods Water System if made up of two
interconnected water treatment plans, SMW #2 and SMW #3.
Ø The WUP Permit allows for withdrawal of 2,362,100 mgd
annual average daily flow and peak month average
withdrawal of 3,316,000 mgd.
