The Edinburgh International Curling Championship remains a Curling Champions Tour Event in
2014. I take great pleasure in inviting your team to apply to compete against some of the top
teams in Europe.
Event and Prizes
24 teams will contest the competition and will be split into 4 sections of 6 teams. The top two
from each section will qualify for quarter-final places. Positions will be determined by league
points. One point will be awarded for a win and no points for a loss. In the event of a drawn
match after eight ends, one extra end will be played. In the event of a blanked extra end
there will be a single draw challenge to decide the winner of the game.
In the event of a tie or ties at the end of league play, final league positions will be decided by
four-end play-off games. The top qualifier from each section will have the choice of last stone
in the quarter finals.
Before the first draw, each team will be given access to the ice for five minutes practice at the
conclusion of which there will be a single draw challenge to ascertain the hammer in the first
game. At the conclusion of each draw up to draw four of five, each team will draw one shot to
ascertain the hammer in the following game. They will do this on the sheet that they have just
played.
Practice Ice
There will be practice ice available in 30-minute timeslots on Thursday 6 November from
9.30pm onwards. You can book a slot by phoning Debbie at +44 131 337 4242. Access to this
ice time is included in your entry fee.
The overall winners prize will be £5000, runners-up £2000, losing semi-finalists £1000 and
losing quarter-finalists £400.
Competition Entry Fee
The entry fee for the competition will be £390 payable when you submit your entry form. You
can pay by credit card over the telephone to Murrayfield, or directly into our bank account.
