Under the direction of Chief Tom Chinn, the department employs 42 sworn officers, with a total of 64 employees. The Montrose Police Department provides a full range of high quality police and public safety services to include: community services officer, drug task force, investigations division, computer forensics unit, bike patrol unit, motorcycle unit, SWAT, and school resource officers. The department seeks candidates with strong analytical and interpersonal skills with a sincere desire to serve our community. Patrol Officer Duties Conduct patrols and respond to dispatched calls for service in designated areas of the city on foot, bicycle, and/or in a patrol vehicle. Perform complex investigations, enforces traffic and criminal laws, and provide public safety. Interact and work with diverse groups of people within the department and the community. Offer testimony relative to investigated incidents; prepare a variety of reports and records; offer assistance to citizens. Minimum Requirements Requirements include being at least 21 years of age, having had no felony convictions, have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, be able to legally possess a firearm, and have the ability to meet the physical fitness standard required by the department.
