THE BOY WHO SAVED BASEBALL By: John H. Ritter Doc Altenheimer is a good friend of Toms. Everyday when their favorite team plays, the San Diego Padres, Tom would go over Doc’s house to watch the game. A IS FOR ALTENHEIMER Baseball is the game Tom’s team needs to play to save the baseball field. B IS FOR BASEBALL Cruz De La Cruz is a kid that has travled all the way from Mexico to play this game and to meet one of the town’s famous legends, Dante Del Gato. C IS FOR CRUZ Dillintown is tom’s hometown. A lot of legends had came from here. Tom’s baseball team needs to play a game to save Dillintown’s baseball field. D IS FOR DILLINTOWN The game to save the baseball field goes into extra innings. Tom’s team needs to score to save the field. E IS FOR EXTRA The fate of the towns history depends on this one game. If Tom looses, they loose the field. F IS FOR FATE Dante Del Gato was one of the best baseball players there was. Breaking many records and champion. Dante left the majors and went back to Dillintown. Soon after Tom and Cruz had found him, Dante became their coach along with Tom’s dad. G IS FOR GATO Even though Tom’s team won and the others lost, everyone including Tom’s team and the parents of the team were cheering for the others for the tough game they played. H IS FOR HONOR Tom’s team only has 6 innings to play to get the win. But since the game went into extras, they had more time to score. I IS FOR INNINGS Alabaster Jones makes a deal with Tom before the game starts. If Tom wins, Jones will tear down the field. If Tom looses the game for the team, Alabaster would give Tom a lot of money. But since they won, Tom’s team convinced Alabaster to not tear the field down. J IS FOR JONES Tom had to use his knowledge to see what decision he would choose from the choices Alabaster gave him. K IS FOR KNOWLEDGE The game has ended and Tom’s team had won. They have beat the team that was going to tear down the field. The lost was a tough one for them since they had put up a hard and tough game. L IS FOR LOSE After Doc dies, he gives Tom all the money he has. Tom has earned 1.5 million dollars from what Doc gave him. M IS FOR MILLIONAIRE After noticing what would happen if Tom decides to take the money from Alabaster and loose the game, Tom knew what choice he needed to make. N IS FOR NOTICE Outs will cost Tom’s team the game. They only have a few outs to try and win the game. Tom’s team will need to limit the outs they have and try to score. O IS FOR OUTS Cruz De La Cruz is the best pitcher on the team. But when it came to the game, Cruz gave up a lot of hits. With the defense behind him, they gave the outs for him. P IS FOR PITCHING Every inning of that game was silent until somebody has scored or if someone struck out and the team that struck out the batter would be cheering. Q IS FOR QUIET Tom’s team needed to score a lot of runs to win the game and that’s what they did. R IS FOR RUNS Cruz really needed to be focused on strikeouts. If Cruz couldn’t give any strikeouts, there was an even better possibility that the other team could’ve beaten them. S IS FOR STRIKEOUT Tom is my main character in my book. Tom is trying to do everything that he can do to win. If he doesn’t win, the Dillintown baseball field will get torn down along with Doc’s farming space. T IS FOR TOM When it comes to the game, Tom’s team is unprepared to see what the other team can do. They don’t know how they hit, field, pitch, and how fast they run. So if there is a ground ball in the infield, the players on Tom’s team don’t know if the runner would be able to beat the throw to the base. U IS FOR UNPREPARED A week or two before the big game, Dante Del Gato came out of retirement of baseball to voulenteer as Tom’s new coach along with his dad. V IS FOR VOULENTEER Walks from Cruz could be trouble. The runner that gets walked is able to steal second, third, and home now because he got walked. W IS FOR WALKS Before every practice and the game, Dante had the team warm up as much as they can so they are ready to play. X IS FOR EXCERCISE At the end of the game, during the last inning, Alabaster Jones would keep yelling at every pitch so that Cruz would walk the batters. Alabaster wanted more walks so the other team could score and tie the game and maybe even get the lead and win. Y IS FOR YELLS Once Cruz has gave the last out, Tom and Dante zoned out because they were so surprised that they won in this situation. Z IS FOR ZONED OUT JEFFREY HIGGINS
