WEY-FUN
WOW…Sports, Games, Aquatics… Your Choice!
WESSAGUSSET SCHOOL: Games, Sports, Crafts, Activities…
The Wessagusset grounds will again serve as our “Home Base”. Our Check-in/Check-out,
office trailer, changing rooms, and new flushable portable rest rooms are available at this
location. With a shaded picnic area that will serve multiple functions throughout the day
including our Arts and Crafts site, our break and lunch site along with our new “Chill”
Zone. (See below for full details.) There are two large fields suitable for both group
games and sports such as polo ball, kick ball, wiffle ball, T-Ball, soccer, flag football,
ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, archery, parachute games and all the New Games we will
present – many for the first time. There is a large hard-top area that is ideal for activities
such as 4-square, double-dutch jump roping and circle games.
O’SULLIVAN PLAYGROUND: Sports and Games…
O’Sullivan Playground is just across the street from the Wessagussett School. This
site will be utilized for many of our games and sports that need a Little League
baseball field or hard court surface for basketball, street hockey, 4-square,
shuffleboard, quick start tennis and pickle ball. This site includes a field house with
boys and girls rest rooms, water outlets for running sprinklers and waterslides and
permanent picnic tables with market style umbrellas.
WESSAGUSSET BEACH: Swimming, Kayaking, Tube Rafting…
The short walk to Wessagusset Beach allows for swimming, tube rafting and kayaking (for
8-10 and 10+ age groups every other week – see the schedule below). The swimming
option is available during both the morning and afternoon sessions for only the three
upper age groups at Wey –Fun. Other activities may include water polo/soccer, “Survivor”,
scavenger hunts, seaside sketching, waterfront watercolors, or Kite making and Flying.
The ”Chill” Zone…
More Individual Choice!
The concept of this area is to have a place for “down time” when the planned activity isn’t
your cup of tea or you just need a break. A counselor will serve as activity director for
this self directed activity area. What’s possible?: special arts and craft projects, karaoke
and dance, or board/table games that include new as well as our traditional group
challenging games – UNO, mancala, bananagrams and blockus….
Wey-Fun is about Choice!
Children age 4 and older can choose to participate for mornings,
afternoons, full day and even extended day. For 2010 we have
introduced a format that allows the participants to choose their counselor
and the structured activities that counselor will offer (with participant
input) in the morning. In the afternoon the emphasis turns to smaller
groups and participant driven activities with the counselors serving as
facilitators. The 10+ also get to move off site if they choose (with prior
registration and commitment) with the afternoon On-the-Go Program –
most weeks. The 8-10 and 10+ also may register for a full week of
kayak touring off Wessagusset Beach – again commitment required.
