Reflective V Florescent Reflective: this reflects the light from the sun

Hat Band:
As you can see in this picture you can
wear high visibility hat bands, this
means that if tractors or lorry’s were to
drive past this would be the first thing
that they would see. Hat bands come in
yellow and pink.
Reflective V Florescent
Reflective: this reflects the light from
the sun or car headlights back out so it
shines with light. Reflective is good to
wear also at dusk and at night time to
help bounce back the light so that
drivers can see you.
Florescent: this is just a brightly
coloured material that helps to alert
drivers of your presence on the roads.
These are good to wear when in the
day light and dusk.
Exercise sheet:
These can be wrapped around so that they go around
the saddle. They are mainly found in yellow with
reflective stripes on them.
Front Wrap:
The front wrap attaches to the D
rings of the saddle and goes in
front of the horse’s chest
attaching to the other side of the
saddle on the D ring again. It
allows cars coming towards the
horse to see this first as well as a
high visibility tabard.
Leg Wraps:
Can be worn either on just the right side which is the
side of the road, or they can be worn all-round. They
can be worn just on the leg or they can be worn over
a type of boot. They come in any range of styles and a
range of colours the most common one is yellow
florescent with a reflective stripe in the middle.
Hi-Vis Tabard:
These are available in yellow, orange or pink however they also come with reflective
stripes, they can also have messages such as ‘Please Pass Slow and Wide’ on them to
encourage drivers to slow down for horses. They can also be padded such as the one shown
or they can be more like builders tabards. They can also have sleeves on them for the
winter months.

Horse:
For the dressage phase of a BE90
competition the horse can wear pretty
much the same as a British Dressage
competition however there are a few
differences with some fo the tack. In this
competition a nose net is allowed. A flash
noseband, grackle/Mexican nose band
can be worn with a snaffle. The same
applies for a drop noseband. An English
styled saddle must be worn, and a
breastplate without the martingale
attachment can be worn during the test.
Rider:
The same goes for the rider the clothes are same as
for a British Dressage competition, however a
protective hat must be worn it is to be either black or
dark blue in colour. If the rider is a member of the
public services such as the Army or Air Force than
they can wear there uniform for the dressage.
Breeches must be white, buff or fawn in colour, black
long boots or leather boot with matching leather
gaiters can be worn. A black or dark blue coat with a
white stock or tie, or a rider may wear a tweed coat
with a coloured tie.

These are my photos,
in a Mountain and
Moorland Working
Hunter Class.
Horse Turn Out:
When entering a working hunter class you should plait your horse’s mane. The
horse should be turned out so that they are clean, and looking wellconditioned. If they have a white leg then this should be chalked to make it
white. For the jumping stage of the class boots, body protectors and neck
straps are acceptable and optional. When doing the showing part of the class
these shall be removed and the class shall carry on like a normal showing class.
The horse should wear his
bridle and a saddle; it is
optional as to whether or not
you wear a shaped saddle pad
in a brown or black colour. Or
you can just not wear one. As
already said you can wear boots
for the jumping part of the
class. The bridle can be of a
snaffle, Pelham or double bridle
whichever the rider prefers.
The Class:
In a working hunter class you will be required to do a
round of jumping over rustic jumps, followed by
entering the show ring with the other competitors
and doing your personal showing demonstration.
Rider Turn Out:
The rider must also be turned out nicely. If it is a junior rider (under 16)
then they can wear jodhpur’s with jodhpur boots or they can also wear
matching gaiters. Adult riders can wear breeches with long boots.
Jodhpurs/breeches can be canary, sand, cream colouring. Jackets can be
brown green or grey. A shirt must be worn it can be yellow, canary,
sand, white or other pale colours. The tie can be in any colour but must
be plain.
