Nine lanes will be used for prelims and finals.
o
Fly over starts will be used for prelims and for C/D finals. Will clear pool for A/B finals
o
Backstroke ledges: Staff will place at start of an event. Athlete will position for heat. Turn
official will remove from water for turns/finishes.
o
Check-In & Scratches:
▪ Scratches for Thursday distance events are due to the Administrative Referee – Mark
Brown - 15 minutes after the conclusion of the technical meeting and may be
submitted by email to the Meet Director. All subsequent days’ events scratches are
due 30 minutes after the start of finals on the previous night.
▪ Meet Scratches – please remember to scratch swimmers who are not attending the
meet.
▪ No Show: If a swimmer No Shows, you will be contacted to confirm status of
swimmer.
• No penalty for preliminaries No Show, but it does count against the allowable
number of events.
• A No Show in finals is a disqualification from the remainder of the meet.
▪ Declared false starts should be made to the Admin table in the timing area.
• May be used in Prelims only and counts as an event
• May not be used in Finals. Relief in finals may be granted for a medical or
similar issue. See the Meet Referee.
▪ Scratches from finals are made with the Administrative Referee at the administrative
table within 30 minutes of announcement of results.
▪ Event limits: For meet 7 individual and 3 per day including time trials.
▪ Positive check-in is required for 800 & 1500 meter freestyles. Due For Thursday 15
minutes after Technical Meeting.
▪ Sunday prelim swim election: Swimmers entered in the Sunday distance freestyle
events may elect to swim the event in the preliminary session. The top eight
swimmers who state no preference will be seeded to compete in the finals.
• To declare to swim in preliminary session, swimmer (or coach) should
CLEARLY write “AM” next to swimmer’s name when checking in. Positive
check-in is due prior to the scratch deadline in order to be seeded.
Distance:
▪ Thursday: the distance freestyle events will swim as timed finals, fastest to slowest,
alternating women and men.
▪ Sunday: the distance freestyle events will swim as timed finals, with the fastest heat of
each event in the finals session; all other heats will swim fastest to slowest, alternating
women and men, following the prelims.

Seeding:
▪ Preliminary Heats –
o 50, 100 & 200’s slow to fast
o 400’s fast to slow
▪ Circle Seeding: Three heats except final two heats 400 meter events.
Finals:
▪
o
B final will swim first, followed by the A final which will be paraded. After all A and
B heats are completed, the C heat/D heats will swim. The A/B Finals will follow the
timeline established for live television all nights. The C/D Finals will be completed as
fast as possible using fly-over starts.
▪ A Finals and Thursday distance events will be paraded. All other heats should report
directly to the starting blocks. A finalists will report to the race ready area to be
escorted to the start area. There will be no awards ceremonies, however Arena may
ask the top three to stop for a photo op compliance is up to the swimmer.
▪ Alternates - If you want to swim, report to the starting area. Can swim in any final
(A,B,C,D). Will not call for alternates.
Swim-offs:

The deck referee for the event will arrange the swim-offs and in no case will the
swim-off occur later than 30 minutes after the conclusion of the B flight of
preliminaries.

Time Trials will be will be offered each day (distance Sunday only). See Administrative desk to
sign up for a time trial.

Records:

We will attempt to track FINA Junior World Records, but would appreciate any help
from coaches… if you think your athlete may have established a Junior World Record,
please let us know so we can be sure that athlete is drug tested as per FINA
requirements.
▪
Masters swimmers who establish new USMS records, must request all necessary
information and signatures prior to the end of the session when the swim occurred…
(USA Swimming often receives these requests months after the meet)

Please make sure Admin table has updated contact information for your team while at
this meet.
▪
All finals’ timelines for the A/B heats are subject to TV holds. Estimated end times are
7:04 PM Friday, 7:16 PM Saturday, 7:32 PM Sunday. Each day’s finals timeline will
be printed in that morning’s prelims heat sheet.

Deck Changes are prohibited.

The use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in
changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.
▪
Drones: Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the
venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any
time athletes, coaches, officials and/or spectators are present.

DOPING CONTROL
o
The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) will be here conducting testing. Please check all
medications (even over-the-counter meds) with USADA at globaldro.com, or 719-785-2000. The
FINA rules consider in-competition testing to begin 12 hours before the competition starts and
continue through the end of the entire competition (not after the athlete’s last race). Any swimmer
achieving a FINA Junior World Record must be tested. For additional info, please contact
USADA or the USADA rep at this event.
This event is subject to testing under USADA and FINA rules.
Please note that all minors must have a representative with them.
All World Records and Junior World Records must be tested.
