Introducing DECA to Your Students
Objective: Effectively introduce DECA to the students in your school through promotion
within your school and business classes.
Promoting a DECA Culture in your School:
 Morning announcements in your school can be an effective way to publicize
membership campaign and ongoing activities.
Example: Wednesday September 10th is DECA's next meeting! Come by to learn more
about the organization and start signing up for future events and our first leadership
conference. Pick up an application from Mrs. Brooks or Mrs. Spinello in W260 or the
Marketing Office. Dues are $25.00 and get you membership benefits and a tee
shirt! Join today!

Updates such as this raise DECA awareness to your entire student body.
Example: Southington DECA had a successful conference on Wednesday with 29
members competing with almost 1,000 other DECA members from across the
state. Outgoing state officers Katie Martocchio and Emily Lippincott helped distribute
trophies on stage to over 150 members of Connecticut DECA and received a third place
trophy for their Creative Marketing Campaign. Gabe Pupura, Harrison Garrett, and
Dakota Curtis also earned a third place trophy for their Business Services Operations
Research Project. Natalie Rickard was announced as a state officer for the 2015-2016
school year. These six students, along with an additional six members will attend the
International Career Development Conference in Orlando this April thanks to the two
campaigns earned by the chapter earlier this year. Congratulations to all of the
Southington DECA members who competed. SHS was well represented through your
enthusiasm and professionalism

Officer presentations at your local school board raise DECA awareness to your
community.
Example: To gain approval for overnight field trips, 2 DECA representative students
addressed the school board on importance and growth gained through DECA
leadership conferences.

Provide office staff and business department staff with DECA tee shirts to raise
awareness and interest throughout your school.
