April 2017 Dual Credit E-Newsletter Greetings Dual Credit Students, The end of your college semester is fast approaching. STAY FOCUSED! You should be studying and preparing for your final exams NOW! Don’t wait until the last minute. We hope that you have had an amazing semester. Remember, summer registration is open. Let us help you plan out your summer. Visit with your ACC Advisor for assistance! ACC Summer registration is open!!! AISD students may take courses at Manvel High School and PISD students may take courses at Turner CC High School. ALL students can take classes at our main campus in Alvin or online. Registration for summer courses must be completed with the ACC Advisor. Summer I Registration: April 3-May 24 Classes are Monday-Thursday, June 5-July 10. Summer II Registration: April 3-July 3 Classes are Monday-Thursday July 12-August 15. By now your professor has shared with you when you will have your college final exam. IF you have an AP exam or other conflict with the date of your college exam, it is YOUR responsibility to inform your professor of the conflict. Your professor will determine if you can take your exam early or on an alternate date. Communication with your professor is KEY! 1. Keep your energy levels high! 2. Follow the 50-10 rule. Study 50 minutes of every hour and leave the last 10 minutes of the hour to clear your mind. 3. Organize a calendar. 4. Create study guides one week before the final. 5. Study in groups only if it benefits you. 6. Take your time. 7. Finish your practice problems. 8. Relax. 9. Do a practice quiz. 10. Exercise and eat healthy! Remember the ACC Learning Lab offers FREE tutorials! If you need help, stop by and get it! Also, take advantage of your Professor’s office hours! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR DUAL DEGREE GRADUATES Alvin Community College Spring Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 13, at 10:00am in the ACC Gymnasium. Commencement Orientation is May 3, in C227 from 5:306:30pm or May 4, in C227 from 12:30-1:30pm. Graduation Reception for all graduates is May 3, 6:00pm7:00pm in the ACC Student Center. SENIORS, Request your Final ACC Transcript 2017 Seniors, don’t forget to request your final ACC transcript to be sent to the university you plan to attend. If you are planning to continue with Alvin Community College, this step is not needed! ACC Transcripts are $7.50 and can be requested through WebACCes or in person at the Admissions office in building A, on the main campus in Alvin. 3110 Mustang Road, Alvin, TX 77511. 2 How do I register for my 2017-2018 college courses? Your ACC Advisor will register you for any college courses you’ve selected and qualify for during the summer break. Students will receive an email when they have been registered along with instructions on how to pay for the classes. Any and all updates regarding your schedule will be sent to you in an email. If you have any questions about getting registered, visit directly with your ACC Advisor! Planning to take a Dual Credit Math class this summer or next school year? Visit with your ACC Advisor to ensure that you meet the TSI requirements needed for enrollment. If TSI is needed, students make take the exam at their high school or at ACC. Click here to register for the ACC TSI. TSI Test Prep is Saturday, April 22nd @ Alvin Community College. The TSI Test Prep Camp is open to all students. The Math section is for students entering 11th grade or higher as of 2017-2018. If you are entering 9th-10th, you should not sign up for the Math camp.
