The first International Conference on Probability and
Statistics and their Applications was held in Hanoi in 1999.
Similar to that conference, CAPS 2008 aims to promote
practical applications of probability and statistics, particularly
in business and industry, and to strengthen international
relations among researchers in these areas. Contributed
papers to the Conference can be on Applied Probability or
any area of Statistics. The Conference will be of interest both
to researchers and to practitioners from business and
industry.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: Abstracts must be submitted electronically by 31 July 2008, only via
the CAPS 2008 submission system at http://www.action-m.com/CAPS2008/submission_form.php
SPEAKERS: Keynote Speaker: Prof. Nick Fisher (President of ISBIS). Plenary Speakers
include Prof. Vijay Nair, Prof. Dennis Lin and Prof. Pham Gia Thu. Invited Speakers: TBA.
REGISTRATION FEE: Estimated fee is US$200 (accompanying persons US$50) with 20%
discount for ISBIS members and Bernoulli Society members and early bird registration. Fee for
students is US$100. The registration will cover conference materials, coffee breaks, a welcoming
cocktail, a Conference dinner and a city tour.
TOURS: The Hanoi City tour including the Hanoi Hilton visit is free. Paid tours on 4 December
include (i) Outskirts of Hanoi (1 day) for US$25 per person and (ii) Halong Bay (2 days, 1 night)
for US $75 per person.
PUBLICATION: An extended version of your paper may be submitted to the official ISBIS journal,
Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, for consideration for publication.
