The Entrance only have a President’s Cup Team so there will only be one match played on the night. Last time there was a match under lights at Joseph Banks Oval it was a great night which was well attended and everyone enjoyed a beer at the match and afterwards at The Rams Clubhouse where they certainly put on a good show. If you are free this Friday night, get along and see our Trojans take on The Rams. Our 3rd Grade team were in great form last week against Warnervale. Let’s hope they keep the same momentum going into the match against The Rams who always put a on good performance at home. On an unfortunate note, we have been notified about a current young Rams player who has recently passed away. The Rams will be completing a bucket brigade for the family on the night. The entire Rams Club are extremely saddened by this loss. If you’re there at the Rugby on Friday night, please support this worthy cause of a fellow rugby family. The match against Warnervale highlighted how good Rugby can be when it is played in the right spirit at the Haven. Although the Terrigal Club won three matches they were certainly challenged throughout the day. As previewed, we were aware that Warnervale was in great form with a strong side going into last weekend’s opening round. The Trojans produced some of our best rugby in the second half to come away with a thrilling 19-18 point victory. Warnervale had struck early with two strong tries and went into the break ahead 15-0. It wasn’t until the second half when our fitness started to show and that we were able to make progress against a very strong Wildcat defence. The Trojans showed belief in themselves to play 80 minutes of sustained Rugby to come away with a victory. How often have you seen the All Blacks or Avoca come away with a win on the score board by focussing for a full 80 minutes of Rugby. This time it was our turn, and it is now clear our Trojans know how to win tough games of Rugby by having a belief in their fellow players and committing for the entire match. The team was led well by new 1st Grade Captain, Sam Kenny along with Ethan McInnes, Alex Brewin, Adam Danckert and a host of Trojans who put in a great performance on the day to beat this spirited Warnervale side. Based on last weekend’s match, Warnervale will no doubt win a lot of matches throughout the year. Well done to Warnervale Coach, Dave Appleby and the Warnervale Club H:\Janine\JOHN STEVENS\Trojans\2017 Season\newsletters\newsletter 7-4-17.docx for their part in a great day of Rugby. The Terrigal Club again showed great hospitality after the match by shouting Warnervale a few beers in their change rooms. Mungo had raised money through his meat raffle for the day and shouted both teams. Afterwards it was upstairs for after match speeches which were well attended. The Trojans put on a great night supplying over 100 burritos from Guzman Y Gomez feeding the players and supporters of both our teams. This was a great day and night of Trojan Rugby showing the spirit in which every match should be played at the Haven. BOAT RACE After last year when our boat race team took on all comers, Warnervale showed they were thirsty on the evening, producing a win against our fancied boat race crew. No doubt the boys will be very keen to avenge this loss and we look forward to a number of boat race victories from them throughout the year. H:\Janine\JOHN STEVENS\Trojans\2017 Season\newsletters\newsletter 7-4-17.docx CODE OF CONDUCT – PRIDE, ENJOYMENT, RESPECT It’s extremely important that Trojans set an example in managing our conduct at all games while supporting our team. Trojans must respect Referees, Game Officials, Players and Opposing Clubs when we are part of Terrigal Rugby Club. Click here to see the link below on the Terrigal Rugby Club Code of Conduct policy.
