Preamble :
Government of Karnataka have established Karnataka
Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation
on 27.05.2006 to implement various welfare schemes for the
economic development of the Scheduled Tribes in the State
and the Corporation is functioning independently since
22.02.2007. The authorized share capital of the Corporation is
Rs.20.00 crores, comprising of State Government and Central
Government's share in the ratio of 51 : 49 .
Programmes of the Corporation :

1.1 Self Employment Scheme - Schemes having unit
cost up to Rs.1.00 lakh
1.2 Industries and Service business scheme Schemes having unit cost above Rs.1.00 lakh.

1. Self Employment Programme
1.1 Self Employment
Scheme (units within
Rs.1.00 lakh)
Financial assistance
upto Rs.1.00 lakh will be
provided in co-ordination
with the banks to the
unemployed
Scheduled
Tribes to facilitate them to
engage in self employment
activities like Dairy, Small Business, Provision Store,
Cycle Shop, Small industry, Service and Business etc.
The financial assistance includes subsidy at 50% of the
unit cost subject to a maximum Rs.35,000/- and the
remaining portion will be the Bank Loan.
1.2 Industries and Service

Financial assistance will
be provided to unemployed
Scheduled Tribes to take up
activities like Small Scale Industry, Tata Indica,
Autorickshaw, Tractor, Piggery, Poultry , Sheep raring ,
Leather Industry, Advocate Office , Beauty Parlour,
Readymade Garments, DTP Centre etc. The assistance in
the form of subsidy at 33% of the unit cost subject to a
maximum Rs.1.00 lakh will be released to the banks in all
the cases where banks sanction loan under the scheme.

Land Purchase Scheme :
T h e L a n d l e s s
Scheduled Tribe agricultural
women labourers in the State
will be made land holders
under the scheme . The unit
cost is Rs.7.50 lakhs out of
which 2-00 acres of dry land
or 1-00 acre wet land or ½
acre garden land
will be purchased and
registered in the name of the beneficiary . The unit cost
consists of subsidy and term loan in the ratio of 50 : 50.
The term loan will be released
from the Corporation which
carries interest at 6% p.a. The
term loan has to be repaid
with interest in 10 years in 20
halfyearlyequated
installments. The Committee
constituted
under
the
Chairmanship of the Deputy
Commissioner of the district
will determine the purchase price of the land.

Micro Credit Scheme :
Each Scheduled Tribe
woman member in Self Help
Group will be sanctioned
Rs.15,000/- to enable her to
take up small business
activities. This amount
includessubsidyo
f Rs.10,000/- and loan of
Rs . 5,000/ - . The entire
amount will be released from
the Corporation directly. The beneficiaries have to repay the
loan amount with interest in 36 equal monthly installments.
4.
Ganga Kalyana Scheme :
The Corporation is implementing Individual Irrigation
borewell / Openwell and Lift Irrigation Scheme to provide
irrigation facility to the dry lands held by small and
marginal Scheduled Tribe farmers.
4.1 Individual Irrigation Borewells / Open well Scheme .
Irrigation facility
through borewell / open
well, will be provided to the
agricultural
dry lands
ranging from 1 ½ acres to
5 acres held by small and
marginal Scheduled Tribe
farmers. In the coastal and
malnad districts like Udupi,
Dhakshina Kannada, Shimoga,
Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Uttara Kannada, the
minimum land holding is fixed at 1 acre. The scheme
includes drilling of borewell / digging
of openwell, installation of
pumpset & accessories
and energisation.
The unit cost is Rs.2.00
lakhs out of which Rs.1.50 l a k
hsissubsidyand
Rs.50,000/- is Term Loan. The
Term Loan carries interest at
6% p.a. The beneficiaries have to repay the loan amount
with interest in 6 years in 12 half yearly equal installments.
4.2 Lift Irrigation Scheme :
Under the Scheme Irrigation
facility will be provided to
the agricultural dry lands
held by small and marginal
Scheduled Tribe farmers
adjacent to the perennial
water source like
river, tank, nala by drawing
pipe line, installing pump
sets and energizing the
same at free of cost. The
unit cost is fixed at Rs.4.00
lakhs for the units having 8
acres of land and Rs.6.00
lakhs for 15 acres of land.
Eligibility criteria for availing facility from the Corporation.
1.
The applicants should belong to Scheduled Tribes and
resident of Karnataka State atleast for the last 15 years .
2.
The applicants should be in the age group of 18 – 60 years.
3.
The annual income of the applicants should be in
the limit of Rs.81000/- in rural areas and Rs.1.04
lakhs of urban areas.
4.
None of the members of the applicant family should
be in the service of either Government or semi
Government organization.
5.
Neither the applicant nor any member of his family has
availed facility under any scheme of the Corporation.
6.
To avail facility under Ganga Kalyana Scheme, the
applicant should be a Scheduled Tribe small /
marginal farmer.
7.
To avail facility under Land Purchase Scheme, the
applicant should be Scheduled Tribe women
landless agricultural labourer and the Land owners
selling land should not belongs to either Scheduled
Caste or Scheduled Tribe.
8.
The applicants seeking assistance for vehicle should
possess badge in addition to valid driving licence.

badge issued by the Regional Transport Authority.
8.
Certificate of experience or training under gone in
the field for which assistance is sought.
