Hospital Admissions: If you have a planned admission into
hospital and wish to receive the sacrament of the sick please arrange
this with Fr. Martin before going to hospital. If you would like to
receive Holy Communion while in hospital please phone 2714999
(the non-emergency chaplaincy ansaphone) & state that this is a
request for Holy Communion for a Catholic patient: giving the
name, the hospital site & the ward). The Hospital Chaplains will
then put the name on the list which is given to the Eucharistic
Ministers on Sundays.

have a hearing aid, please turn it to ‘T’.
Deepening our Faith through the Mass Fr. Martin and
Deacon Andrew have planned the series of meetings to deepen
our faith using different aspects of the Mass. There will be 4
meetings throughout the year on a Saturday morning from 9:30
to 12.30 at St. Patrick’s Presbytery, Barnsley Road, S5 0QF.
The themes are as follows - “Let us Pray” (13th May), “The of
Word of the Lord, ”(17th June) “This is my body / This is my
Blood” (7th October), “Go, and announce the Gospel of the
Lord”(TBC). It will be a valuable opportunity for our parish
community to learn and pray together.
Deepening Our Faith Through The Mass - Let Us Pray.
May 13th. We will look at the different types of prayer, and the
difficulties we have when we pray. We will look at ways to
approach prayer, and experience praying with scripture. We
begin at 9.30, and will finish with Adoration by 12:30.


We welcome Fr. Gerry Markey, a Columban Father, who
will be celebrating our Masses today and giving the mission
appeal on behalf of the Columban Missionaries. There will be
a retiring collection.


St. Thomas More’s SVP meet a week on Monday at 6.40pm
in the weekday chapel. All welcome.

Journey in Faith continues a week on Monday, 7.15-8.45pm
in the weekday chapel at St. Thomas More’s, Margetson
Crescent, S5 9NB. The topic will be ‘How Can I Make the
Most of the Rest of My Life?’

St Patrick’s Ladies Group: meets a week on Tuesday at
7.30pm in the Presbytery.

St. Patrick’s SVP meets this week on Tuesday at 7.30pm in
the Presbytery.

St. Thomas More’s Ladies Group: meet on Tuesday 16th May
after Mass in the weekday chapel.

Parish Prayer Group meets on Wednesday at 8pm in the
parish house. All are warmly welcomed for a time of listening,
praise and intercession. See Dcn Andrew for details.

Over 60’s – Meet every Thursday at 1-3pm in the McAuley,
St. Patrick’s.

Praying for our parish and local community: Each Sunday,
during the General Intercessions in the Mass, we will pray for
our parish community and we are encouraged to pray for our
parish in our own private prayers too. Also, included in the
General Intercessions we will also have a cycle of prayer for
the local areas that our parish covers – Ecclesfield, Longley,
Parson Cross, Shiregreen, Grenoside, Southey, Birley Carr,
Firth Park, Foxhill and Wincobank.
SP New Gift Aid Boxes: The boxes for the new tax year
are now available for collection at the back of church.

your name is not on the list or you would like to use the
Gift Aid Scheme, then please sign a new gift aid form and

Fairtrade stall is held at St. Patrick’s on every last Sunday
of month behind church after the 11.00am mass.

Prayer Group: Everyone is invited to the Prayer Group,
held every 1st Saturday of the month, 1pm-4pm at Sacred
Heart Church Hall, Hillsborough S6 2LN. Come and be

Sister Lucy Kurien, a catholic nun from Kerala, established
Maher, a home for destitute women and children in Pune, India
in 1997. She will talk about her life working with the poor –
two decades of love, service, compassion and change – at 7pm
on Thursday 11th May in The McAuley Centre, St. Patrick’s.
Following the talk, there will be a Q&A and refreshments.
First Holy Communion 2017: First Holy Communion
preparation, (some new dates) 6.30pm-7.30pm, Tuesdays on
16th, 23rd May, 6th, 13th June.
Confirmation 2017 for children who are Years 7-13. The InReality Diocesan Youth Team will be leading the Confirmation
Preparation. The sessions will be at St. Thomas More’s,
Margetson Crescent, S5 9NB, in the weekday chapel 7-8.30pm
on the following Tuesdays:16th May. There will be an away day
on Saturday 10th June at In-Reality, Denaby Main and the
Confirmation Mass will be 7.30pm, Wednesday 14th June at St.
Thomas More’s.
Deanery Variety Show with acts (all ages) from a number of
parishes. Friday 12th May at 7pm in Sacred Heart Hall, Ripley
St, Hillsborough. Tickets £5 adults, £1 children, family tickets
(2adults, up to 3children) £10, including tea/coffee and cakes.
Proceeds to CAFOD's Connect2 El Salvador Please be
thinking of ways in which you and/or your family could take
part. Can you sing, dance, tell a joke, recite a poem? Sign-up

Carmel Care. How would you like to be a 'musical
volunteer'? Carmel Care Centre is looking for people with
musical or singing talent, to join us on Wednesday mornings
between 10.30-12.30 to make music! If you have more time
you can even stay and have lunch. We especially need someone
to play the piano.
You would also be very welcome if you have ‘green fingers’ to
help weeding, planting and watering the garden at Carmel on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

St Vincent’s Furniture Store Celebrates 30 years. 2017 marks
the 30th anniversary of St Vincent’s Furniture Store here in
Sheffield. During our 30 years, we have assisted over 100,000 local
families and individuals. We help anyone in need and last year
alone we made 1588 deliveries to 2550 people, which includes 1100
children. On Friday 19th May 2017, we will be marking our 30th
anniversary with a celebration at Baldwins Omega. Our guest
speaker on the evening is Lord David Blunkett. Tickets are priced
at only £30.00 which includes a 4 course meal, entertainment from
our Mother of God’s Got Talent winner Connie, and music till 2am.

Free Training to do Drug Prevention Work- Would you like to
help children and young people in Sheffield avoid drug and alcoholrelated harm so that they can achieve their potential? Hope UK can
help you by providing free training. A national registration charity
based in London, Hope UK trains Christian volunteers to become
Drug Educators in schools and with youth and parents groups. We
also have other volunteering opportunities.

voluntary Drug Educators in Sheffield. Our Training is free, takes
