What we will be learning
this term…
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
This term we will be exploring our feelings as
well as looking at how negotiate and solve
problems without aggression. We will also be
trying to work on tasks by ourselves to
develop our independence. We will be looking
at how we learn like the Mr Men characters.
Communication and Language.
All the activities in class will allow us the use
of communication skills; from working with
people and talking through our ideas, to
listening to other people’s thoughts and
feelings. We will also be retelling stories
about toys coming alive.
Physical development
We will continue to develop our balancing
skills by performing dance moves to music
and moving like puppets. We will also have
lots of finger gym activities to strengthen
our muscles to help us with our handwriting.
In outdoor PE we will be using skills such as
aiming at a target by throwing and catching,
as well as rolling or striking a ball with an
object.
Exploring Art and Design
This term we will be toy making, designing
and making toys using lots of different
materials. We will also be outside recreating
scenes from Toy Story and pretending that
we are toys that come alive.
Literacy
We will be continuing with our daily phonic
sessions, learning digraphs as well as blending
and segmenting words, using this skills to
read and write words and sentences. We will
also be learning our tricky words and writing
stories about toys coming alive.
Mathematics
We will be engaging lots of activities linked
to adding and taking away and learning ways
to solve real life problems linked to these
concepts. We will also be continuing with our
number recognition.
Understanding of the World
We will be exploring different toys, how
they are made and how they move and well as
the similarities and differences between
them. We will be continuing to develop our
ICT skills by using the computer as well as
remote control toys.
In circle time we will be looking at special
places, including places of worships for
different religions
How can you contribute to
your child’s learning?
•Continue Look for WOW/Proud parent
moments at home and add them to out parent
as partners display in class.
•Share a story at night with your child, this
could be the reading book, phonics bug or
your child’s favourite story .
•Play games that will help with working as a
team, sharing and taking turns.
•Use maths in everyday activities e.g.
counting items when shopping. Share maths
games at home
•Encourage your child to dress/undress
themselves.
•Engage in activities such as mark making and
cutting to develop fine motor skills.
Writing lists and simple sentences with
tricky words
