CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. Yachting Australia Awards 2015 will be held in Sydney on Friday 6 November 2015. 2. Nominations in all categories open for the Yachting Australia Awards 2015 on Wednesday 26 August 2015 and close at 5pm (AEST) on Monday 21 September 2015 and must be completed on the official Yachting Australia Awards 2015 application forms, available on the Yachting Australia website (except for applications from State Associations in the same category in that State’s own 2014/15 Awards, outlined in point 21 below). 3. Nomination forms must be received by Yachting Australia by 5pm (AEST) Monday 21 September 2015 to be eligible. Nominations will only be considered if they meet the criteria outlined for each Award. 5. For Awards in the Open Nomination section (Male Sailor of the Year, Female Sailor of the Year, Sailor of the Year with a Disability, Youth Sailor of the Year, Sport Promotion Award, Sport Professional Award and Lifetime Achievement Award), nominations can be made by any individual member of a Club associated with Yachting Australia and nominator must provide their current Yachting Australia number on the nomination form. Nomination forms must be co-signed by one of the following: Club Commodore or Club General Manager; Class Association President; Yachting Australia President or Chief Executive Officer; President or Executive Officer of State Association. 6. For the CYCA SOLAS Trusts Bravery Award, nomination must made by the Club who acted as the organising authority of the event where the incident occurred during the period 16 September 2014-15 September 2015 and endorsed by a Club Commodore or Official. 7. For Awards in the State Association-nominated categories, one nomination per State Association in each category will be accepted. The process for deciding the nominee in each category is by State Association at their own discretion. Nomination forms must be signed by State Association President or Executive Officer. 8. In the category of President’s Award, this is a closed process and nominations are not accepted. The awarding of this honour is at the discretion of the President of Yachting Australia and not automatically awarded each year 9. Full details must be provided for each nominated individual, crew, team, Club or organisation in order to facilitate the judging process. Nominations must include a quality “head and shoulders” colour photograph or an action shot, preferably emailed in a high resolution format that is copyright free and may be used for public viewing and promotional use. 10. For nominations that include both skipper and crew(s), only the results that all the crew members achieved as a combined crew will be considered. It is preferred that where results were achieved as a combined crew, all crew members are nominated. 11. All nominations should be in respect of performances and achievements during the period 16 September 2014 – 15 September 2015 except for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Sport Professional Award and Volunteer Award, which all focus on longer term contribution to sailing and boating. The Voting Panel reserves the right to consider any performance or achievements started, or that were scheduled to start, during the nomination period and that are completed by 30 September 2015. 12. For the Youth Sailor of the Year award, the rules in respect to youth status are as per the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) guidelines. Athlete(s) must be under 19 years of age during the year in which the event(s) they have been nominated for took place. 13. To be considered for the Sailor of the Year with a Disability award, a nominee must be classified under the International Association for Disabled Sailing’s (IFDS) Functional Classification System, or for a sailor with an intellectual disability, the INAS-FID Athlete Eligibility Criteria 14. Completion of nomination forms and signature on same by nominee, nominator and co-signor, indicates full acceptance of the conditions that apply to the conduct of the Yachting Australia Awards 2015. 15. The person completing the nomination form in the Open Categories (Male Sailor of the Year, Female Sailor of the Year, Sailor of the Year with a Disability, Sport Promotion Award, Sport Professional Award and Lifetime Achievement Award) must be a member of a Club affiliated with Yachting Australia through their State Association and must supply their current Yachting Australia Number on the application for the entry to be valid. 16. Nominees, finalists and winners of previous Yachting Australia Awards may be re-nominated for all Awards except for winners of Lifetime Achievement Award, who will only be presented with that honour once. 17. By signing the application form, nominees, nominators and co-signors agree to their details and provided information being viewed and checked by Yachting Australia staff to verify qualifications and confirm details have been correctly listed. If any information is found to be incorrect or falsified, the application may be disqualified from the voting process at the discretion of Yachting Australia. 18. In all categories the completed nomination form must be signed by the nominee, verifying the accuracy of information provided. 19. If the nomination is being made posthumously, details should be noted in the Nominee Citation on the form. 20. Nominations for Volunteer Award, Club of the Year, Official of the Year, Instructor of the Year and Coach of the Year are at the discretion of each State Association and one entry per category per State/Territory only will be accepted by Yachting Australia. 21. Yachting Australia will accept nominations from State Associations using application forms created and completed for 2014/15 Awards by State Associations for Volunteer Award, Club of the Year, Official of the Year, Instructor of the Year and Coach of the Year, provided the nominee satisfies the criteria for the Yachting Australia Awards 2015. The process of deciding the nominee by each State Association in each category is at their own discretion. 22. On selection as a finalist Yachting Australia will require (if available) at least 30 seconds of moving footage supplied by the nominee to assist in compiling a video montage for use at the Yachting Australia Awards 2015 function. This footage may also be used in promotional materials for Yachting Australia and State Associations to promote sailing and boating. Additional photographs may also be requested for use in promotional materials for the Yachting Australia Awards 2015 and ongoing. 23. To protect the integrity of the Awards and to guard against omissions, Yachting Australia reserves the right to make, alter, reject and amend nominations. 24. Selection of finalists and winners of each award category will be made by the Voting Panel except for President’s Award and CYCA SOLAS Trusts Bravery Award. The Voting Panel is an independent panel appointed by Yachting Australia. The panel consists of prominent, successful and experienced people representing all aspects of the sailing and boating community. President’s Award is decided by President of Yachting Australia. CYCA SOLAS Trusts Bravery Award winner will be decided by CYCA with award handed out during the Yachting Australia Awards 2015 but is not automatically awarded each year, as decided by CYCA. 25.
