Therefore, it is necessary that those who aspire to become officers are highly qualified, able and willing to perform. Please read and study the major qualifications and prerequisites very closely. The state officer shall be a member of the student board of officers, which fulfills the specified functions of governance of the National FFA Organization/Tennessee Association FFA. 2. The state officer shall execute the Tennessee FFA Program of Activities and shall assist the chapters in the execution of their program of activities. 3. The state officer shall be a disseminator of specific agricultural education and FFA information to the membership. 4. The state officer motivates, inspires and encourages FFA members to participate in agricultural education and FFA programs. They assist members in their advancement of agricultural knowledge and development of leadership abilities. 5. The state officer shall maintain positive relationships with members, agribusiness organizations, educational organizations, and personnel within the agricultural natural resources and fiber sector, and others interested in agricultural education. 6. The state officer shall project a positive image as a leader among American youth representing those qualities members and the FFA code of ethics accept as a life style role model. 7. The state officer shall uphold the FFA Code of Ethics. AS A CANDIDATE FOR STATE OFFICE, I WILL: 1. Agree to arrange my schedule to arrive in and remain in Gatlinburg according to recommendations. 2. Comply with all instructions of the nominating committee including, but not limited to, being available to the nominating committee as directed: participating in all facets of the officer selection-election process, and being prompt in all aspects of the procedure from the beginning until the convention ends. Be willing to commit at least 100 days to state officer activities. 3. Be willing and able to travel in serving the Tennessee Association FFA. 4. Become knowledgeable of agriculture, of education in agriculture/agribusiness, and of FFA. 5. Through preparation and practice, develop myself into an effective public speaker and project a desirable image of FFA at all times. 6. Regularly and promptly write all letters, thank you notes, reports and other correspondence which are necessary and desirable. 7. Strive to improve my ability to carry on meaningful and enjoyable conversations with individuals of all ages and walks of life. 8. Accept and search out constructive criticism and evaluation of my total performance. 9. Keep myself up to date on current events. 10. Follow the state officer code of ethics: a. To forego use of all alcohol, tobacco, and drugs while involved in official or unofficial FFA activities. b. To treat all FFA members equally by not favoring one over another. c. To conduct myself in a manner which commands respect without any display of superiority. d. To maintain dignity while being personable, concerned, and interested in my contacts with others. e. To avoid places or activities which in any way would raise questions as to my moral character or conduct. f. To consider FFA officer activities as my primary responsibility. g. To use wholesome language in all occasions. h. To maintain proper dress and good grooming for all occasions. i. To work in harmony with fellow FFA officers, and not knowingly engage in conversations detrimental to other FFA members, officers, and adults. 13.
