Customs should transmit :
• 100% of termination elements to national Association or
directly to IRU
• for all TIR carnets terminated at all Customs offices of
destination
• on a daily basis - within 2 days of termination
• by the fastest method
• reconciliation data

• Allows German Customs to identify actual office of
destination i.e. Italy
• German Customs request confirmation of termination from
actual office of destination
• Saving valuable time and resources

SafeTIR information available in case of :
 Discrepancy between the “souche” and the
SafeTIR data
 Lack of any SafeTIR data
Thus enabling IRU to report to Customs

• To provide details of invalid TIR carnets (lost, stolen etc)
• To reduce bureaucracy in Customs inquiry procedures
• To enable early detection of fraud
• To instil trust in the TIR System
