Dear Member
Herewith the promised 2nd bulletin.... there are some important changes and dates for your diary.
1). our next specialist GSD show is on the weekend of the 9th, 10th and 11th July 2016.
Obedience is on Saturday the 9th. The Breed show on the 10th and the Breed Survey on Monday
11th. Our specialist judge is the very well respected Herr Erich Boesel of the excellent kennel
Piste Trophy.
Please help us by paying and entering in time both for the show AND the Breed Survey
Please note that if you have not paid your subscription you will be charged as a non-member or
you can pay your sub with the entry. The last point of payment will be before the vet at the show.
You will be refused entry if this is not settled. All entries must be paid for.... even if the dog is
withdrawn or refused entry.
With ref to the show:As many dogs as possible should be chipped and have had their teeth pre judged. We will use the
chip reader at the vet office to confirm the identity of each dog. The grading EXCELLENT may only
be awarded to a 2 year old dog.
2). On the 29th of May 2016 at 1pm at the Kennel Club show ground the German Shepherd Dog
League will have an Open Day to :A. Discuss the ideal GSD and its beginnings with an open discussion
B. Examine and certify the dentition for life.
C.A qualified vet will CHIP your dog for just 2500/- each
PLEASE BRING THE PEDIGREE AND A COPY OF THE REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE THAT
WILL BE RETAINED BY THE BREED COUNCIL
Payment can be made via cash, cheque or Mpesa
3) The much valued UHURU TROPHY is awarded each year for the best working male and female
German Shepherd. They must have been graded V or have an RCC OR CC AND have qualified
in Novice obedience.
4). As of July 2017 a dog graded Excellent MUST have been successfully
BREED SURVEYED Class 1 or 1*.
There will be a Breed Survey at the next GSD show and the November specialist GSD show. The
Breed Council will organize a 3rd Survey in about March/April/2017.
You therefore have 3 Opportunities to to have your dog surveyed before July 2017.
Your dog must be 18 months minimum and have had the HIPS SCORED.
The maximum Hip score remains at 20 and if both parents are hip scored the puppies will have a
Blue Registration certificate.
The total hip BREED WORTH remains at 40 ( sire and dam's combined hip score) the puppies will
have a PINK registration certificate.
The Breed Council has introduced a maximum BREED WORTH hip score
25 for males and 30 for females.
The Breed Council has also decided to introduce another 1* grading for BREED SURVEYS.
Males Hip Scored 25 can be Breed Surveyed but will be "Starred" *
Indicating he can only be bred with a female with a max score of 15.
FEMALES Hip Scored 30 can be Breed Surveyed but will be " starred" *
Indicating she can only be bred with a male with a max score of 10.
So now there is:a) Breed Survey Class 1
b) Breed Survey Class 1* ( a max of 2.5 cms over or under size)
c) Breed Survey Class 1* ( Care Hips)
5). The Breed Council is delighted to announce that a modicum of outside attraction will be allowed
at the next German Shepherd Show.
Two places will be set aside, one at the obedience ring end of the ring and the other at the corner
at the ladies loo end.

6). Free membership for the year or part thereof maybe given to each new owner who buys a pup
from a GSD member. The breeder should ask for membership forms, complete them and hand to a
member of the committee. They will obviously be required to pay their annual subs the following
year.
If you are interested in winning the coveted UHURU TROPHY your dog must have qualified in
Novice Obedience. Training has started at the Kennel Club grounds at 10 to 11 on Sunday
morning.
