PROJECT COMPLETED Automatic Distance Measurement & Braking Using Ultrasonic Sensor The main components used are Ultrasonic sensor unit with display, IR sensor unit, control unit with power supply, solenoid valve, Flow control valve, Compressor. The ultrasonic transmitter circuit and IR transmitter unit transmit ultrasonic rays and IR rays respectively. If any obstacle is there in the path the ultrasonic rays are reflected and will be received in the receiver unit and obstacle distance will be displayed on the display unit. And IR rays struck on the obstacle get reflected and will be received by IR receiver unit and these reflected rays will give control signal to the control unit which is used to activate solenoid valve. If the solenoid valve is activated the compressed air passes to the single acting pneumatic cylinder. The compressed air activates the pneumatic cylinder and moves the piston rod. If the piston moves forward then the then braking arrangement activates. The braking arrangement is used to brake the wheel gradually or suddenly due to the piston movement. The braking speed is varied by adjusting the valve called Flow control valve.
