Great news, the National Broadband Network (NBN) is now available in parts of Prospect, Fitzroy and Ovingham. To confirm NBN availability, look at the map below, visit www.nbnco.com.au or call NBN Co on 1800 676 626 NBN is an upgrade to the telecommunications network in your area, providing the infrastructure for affordable high-speed internet and phone access. Now’s the time to switch. The NBN will replace existing landline phone, ADSL internet and Telstra and Optus cable internet services in the areas covered by the purple shading in the map above. Other areas shaded brown will progressively get turned in the coming months. The countdown is already underway for these existing services to be switched off. Services will be permanently switched off in approximately 18-months. If you want to continue making phone calls or accessing the internet using a landline connection, you’ll need to switch to the NBN. What to do? If your address in parts of Prospect, Fitzroy and Ovingham is shaded purple, the NBN service is now available. The move to the NBN is not automatic. Contact your preferred phone or internet provider today to order your NBN phone and internet service, or visit www.nbnco.com.au to see how this affects you. Medical and/or Security Alarms Residents and businesses who have special equipment that connects over a landline phone line, such as a monitored security or fire alarm, EFTPOS machine or medical monitoring device, should contact the supplier of the device or monitoring service for further advice on what needs to be done for it to work over the NBN as soon as possible. Before signing up for an NBN service: 1. Speak to the provider of the device first about how the device will work over the NBN 2. Ask what services over the NBN will work with the device 3. Check if any wiring changes are necessary Remember: • • • We recommend people place their order for services over the NBN with their preferred service provider as early as possible When signing up for an NBN service let the service provider know that you have the device and check they offer the necessary service features for their equipment Once the device is connected to the NBN and any necessary wiring changes have been done, test the device and receive confirmation from the device provider that it is working as intended Medical Alarm Registry You may also wish to register your medical alarm service with NBN Co to identify where support may be needed to assist in your move to the NBN.
