Lay-Up Youth Basketball Executive Team Member: Head Coach Lay-Up Youth Basketball Lay-Up Youth Basketball (Lay-Up) was founded in September 2013 to provide free, organized, high-quality basketball programs to youth from low-income neighbourhoods in Toronto. The program combines basketball skills building with a ‘social curriculum’ aimed at developing off the court leaders in our communities. Through a partnership with Basketball World Toronto, Lay-Up is able to provide participants with fun programs that truly improve their skills. Lay-Up differentiates itself from other free programs in that we actually provide children with an equal opportunity to their higher income counterparts, and one that will have a meaningful impact on their lives. In our first three years of operations, Lay-Up has raised approximately $110,000 to send over 600 children to our programs. 2016-17 specifically was a banner year for Lay-Up, forming key partnerships with MLSE Foundation, JumpStart and Ontario Basketball Association and sending over 300 participants to our programs. The Head Coach will play a critical role in helping Lay-Up continue this growth. Please refer to Lay-Up’s website (www.lybs.ca) & Facebook page (facebook.com/LayUpBasketballScholarship) for more details.
