Third Grade Plant WebQuest Overview|Introduction|Quest(ions)|Process|Resources|Evaluation|Conclusion Overview In this WebQuest, students will learn about plants and plant parts and how they are important to us. This WebQuest coincides with the Third Grade NYS Standards. Students will use the computer and other resources to investigate plants and then present their discoveries to the class using journals & posters. Time frame for this WebQuest is two weeks. Most plants have 6 basic parts. You will identify each component (part) and discover its function. You will also be able to identify the part of the plant we eat. Finally, you will learn that a plant needs four things to live and grow. Use the information to write a paragraph & create a poster of what you learned at the conclusion of this webquest. . Print out the “Plant Parts Diagram” worksheet. Go to “Resources” and then click on ”Plant Function” link. Print out the “Plant Function” sheet. Go to ”The Great Plant Escape” to find the answers needed to answer the questions. In The Classroom: Use your science textbook to read about what plants need to grow and live. You may read independently or with a partner. After you have finished reading, make a web or four-fold organizer to illustrate your findings. Additional Activity: Click on http://www.coe.unt.edu/TeacherTools/webquests/plant_parts/ Farmers%20Market.doc and click “ok” to open file. Print out Farmer’s Market Table & fruits & vegetables. Follow and complete the directions for the activity.
