Flagstone Youth Triathlon
This event is open to everyone less than sixteen years of age. The triathlon is
scheduled for Monday, September 1st at 9:00 am. All participants should be at
the bike transition area by 8:30 a.m. on race day. Each participant will be
marked with a race number prior to the event start. Competitors 8 years and up
will have black race numbers. Competitors 7 years and under will have red race
numbers.
Each participant that completes the event will receive a personalized certificate of
completion.
The distance of this event is tailored to the youth in our subdivision. However,
parents are encouraged to participate with your children.

In order to insure a safe event, a walk only zone has been designated on the
downhill section of the bike course that starts at Barons Point.
The end of the walking zone will be marked on race day by an orange safety
cone. Race participants must walk their bicycle while traveling downhill inside
this area. During the return to the swim transition area, while traveling uphill,
there is no restriction.
Any race participant who violates the walk only rule during the downhill portion of
the bike route will be eliminated from prize contention (No Exceptions).
Run
The triathlon will begin with a 1-mile run. It will begin beside the subdivision
entrance on Flagstone Drive. The run course follows Flagstone Drive to Barons
Point. At Barons Point, runners will turn right and proceed to the cul-de-sac (all
runners must go around the orange cone), run back to Flagstone Drive, turn left
and run to the bike transition area.
Runners must stay on the right side of the course at all times.

The bike course begins at the bike transition area on Flagstone Drive. All
participants should review the course map and be familiar with the “Walking
Zone" on Flagstone Drive. The walking zone begins at Barons Point and
continues down the hill to the orange cone.
The bike route follows Flagstone Drive to Knotty Pine Drive. At Knotty Pine Drive,
the course turns left and continues to Teaberry Court. At Teaberry Court, the
course turns right and continues to the cul-de-sac (all bikers must go around the
orange cone). From the first turn around on Teaberry Court, the bike route
continues on Teaberry Court to Hidden Oak. Bikers will turn right on Hidden Oak
and proceed to the cul-de-sac (all bikers must go around the orange cone).
From the cul-de-sac on Hidden Oak Lane, the course returns to Teaberry Court.
The bikers will turn right on Teaberry Court and proceed to the cul-de-sac
(all riders must go around the orange cone). From the cul-de-sac on Teaberry
Court riders will return to Knotty Pine Drive, turn right and proceed to Flagstone
Drive. At Flagstone Drive, the riders will turn right and follow Flagstone Drive to
the swim transition area.

Swim
All participants will enter the pool in the area marked “swim start”. Each
swimmer must begin at the end of the pool and follow the lanes marked by ropes
(all swimmers must swim the length of the pool). After touching the end of the
pool, swimmers will cross under the lane ropes and swim the length of the pool
again (total of 5 lengths for ages 8 and older, 3 lengths for ages 7 and under).
Swimmers 8 years and older will swim 100 yards. Swimmers 7 and under will
swim 60 yards. Time will be recorded when participant reaches the end of the
swim
Any swim gear (goggles, etc.) should be in the swim transition area prior to the
race.
