Facility Engineer - Gas Processing (Midstream) Hythe, Alberta and Steeprock, British Columbia The Company Veresen is a North American energy infrastructure company with three main lines of business: natural gas pipeline, mid-stream and power generation. Veresen’s midstream business includes North American’s largest extraction and fractionation plant located at the terminus of the Alliance pipeline near Chicago, Illinois, as well as natural gas processing, short-haul gas transportation and NGL pipelines. Recently Veresen has acquired two natural gas plant operations in Hythe, Alberta and Steeprock, British Columbia. The plants are located 45 minutes and 1 ½ hours from Grande Prairie, respectively. The Hythe/Steeprock Facilities have a combined functional capacity of 516MMcf/d as well as approximately 40,000 hp of compression and 370 km of gas gathering lines. The Hythe plant processes both sour and sweet natural gas and employs 35 staff members while the Steeprock plant is a sour gas processing facility with 15 employees. The Position The Facility Engineer reports to the Plant Manager of each of the Hythe and Steeprock gas facilities. The successful candidate will be accountable for coordinating engineering work requirements with the Plant Manager, Operations Lead and Operations Staff to ensure an efficient system for production control. The Facility Engineer will identify and complete process control, carry out maintenance projects and efficiently rectify equipment problems to ensure production goals are met on time. Key Accountabilities • • • • • • • • • • Provide engineering support to Operations and Maintenance on process of environmental and regulatory compliance with EPC companies; Perform review and risk assessment of technical issues; Detail scoping and ranking of maintenance capital projects including DBM, cost estimate and schedule; Manage engineering contractors, equipment procurement, inspection and construction contractors to ensure projects are successfully completed while managing the change management process; Develop the business case for maintenance capital projects; Coordinate and manage Operational Improvement Requests; Provide regular updates on project statuses and operational issues informing Plant Managers and Director of Engineering of status/issues as required; Ensure key drawings and equipment data sheets are up to date and deficiencies identified; Participate in Hazop’s/Lopa’a and design reviews; Conduct and/or participate in loss control inspections and practice, root cause failure analysis, internal safety audits and simulated safety practices; • Coordinate process control additions and adjustments, mechanical and piping changes and or any other applicable additions/changes with operations and engineering staff, within the MOC process, to safely establish design parameters and criteria for good operating practice. Qualifications • • • • • • • The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, (Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical); Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in gas plant processes and control systems with demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing operational and maintenance projects; Possess a good understanding of the operation of plant and field production facilities and has the knowledge, experience and required skills to safely and effectively execute projects; Have a strong knowledge of ‘Best Practices’ in operations engineering including piping, control and other specifications; Demonstrates initiative in problem solving and believes in continuous learning; Demonstrates and supports a consultative approach with members of the production team; Supports and initiates required change. Location The Plant Engineer will travel to the two plants – Hythe, which is situated 45 minutes from Grande Prairie and Steeprock, which is 1 ½ hours away from Grande Prairie and near the communities of Kelly Lake and Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
