The quality of HVAC control loops depends on several individual
factors: on the characteristics of the control path with its various control
devices (level of difficulty), on the controller and its setting options and –
to a great extent – also on the control qualities of the actuator device,
consisting of a valve and actuator.

New hot and cold water producers like heat pumps, solar systems and
adsorption refrigerating machines need reliable, quick and accurate actuators which cover a large temperature and pressure range. Motorised

guarantee maximum efficiency for the complete system. Depending on
the opening position of the control device the equal percentage valve
characteristic curve produces linear heat emission behaviour. As the
control device (valve) opens, the flow rate only increases gradually.
Belimo characterised control valves also do not have an input jump
and can therefore also be used to control the smallest flow rates in the
opening range.
Quick changeover saves energy
Heat producers are often used to heat up domestic water. Fast running
Belimo actuators support energy-optimized accumulator filling and
changeover to boiler heating. By using heat pumps with a heating and
cooling function, you are therefore doing a lot to save energy.
Large temperature and differential pressures
The rapid supply of heated water is a basic requirement for a high level
of comfort and is ensured by fast running actuators with high resolution.
A key feature of perfect control is exact compliance with the specified
setpoint for a wide range of different forms of water extraction. With the
special characterised control valves in the R4..D series, large temperature and pressure ranges can be covered and reliably controlled – for
example in district heating substations, but also low temperature steam,
domestic and drinking water applications.
