Responsibility
Codeco is a consulting firm, I was sent out to
3 separate projects. The first was drilling
shallow wells near Fort St. John, BC using oilbased fluid. The second was drilling 2 wells
for Amarone Oil and Gas. The second of
these wells was drilled in the rock creek
formation at a total depth of 3700 metres.
We ran a packer plus system in the
horizontal section.
The third project
consisted of shallow gas wells drilled for
Spearpoint Energy.
Responsible for daily drilling activities,
ensured compliances were met for the
government and company regulations. HSE
(health, safety, environmental) issues were
met with a daily tail gate meeting with each
drill crew prior to start of shift.
Duties included transporting drilling rig to
locations and setting up on 4 well pad.
Drilled horizontal CBM (coal bed methane)
with 3 multi-lateral legs off one mother
bore. Each lateral leg (3/mother bore) used
Weatherford hydraulic quick-cut milling
system with quick-pack packer. Lateral hole
was drilled with Produced water through
Mannville coals reaching 2800 m to 3800 m
in total measured length. Slotted liner was
conveyed into lateral section followed by
two open hole packers and C-Hanger.
Nexen well site reporting system used
Open-Wells with Excel spread sheets to
assist in cost effectiveness, casing and
drilling tools inventory.
Work as a relief Senior Drilling Supervisor for
the winter drilling season. Ability to take
over in midstream and continue to follow
drilling program set forth by Talisman.
Duties included transporting drilling rig from
location to location, correlating trucks,
cranes and all personnel.
Performance motors with PDC bits for max
penetration rates to cut cost per meter.
Drilling fluids ranged from area drilled. OBM,
Potassium Silicate and PHPA were used.
Type of wells ranged from S-Curved and
Vertical 3000 m to 3800 m in total depth.
Primary target zone – Cadomin.
Talisman well site reporting system used
Wellview daily reports with Excel spread
sheets to assist in cost effectiveness.

Responsibility
Supervisor vertical and horizontal well bores
in the Mannville Coal field in central Alberta
(Canada). Coordinated full bore continuous
wire line core samples. Well bore were
cemented with light weight surrey and also
nitrogen foam cement to reduce hydrostatic
pressure on the coal.
Horizontal wells consisted of 4 laterals off
the horizontal mother bore. Laterals were
drilled out using Weatherford hydraulic
quick-cut milling system with quick-pack
packer. Lateral hole was drilled with
Produced water through Mannville coals
reaching 2400 m to 3600 m in total
measured length. Slotted liner was conveyed
into lateral section and released at the
bottom of each window with Imports Tools
hydraulic running tool. Each pad location
consists of 5 wells. 4 wells with 4 legs off
each well bore for a total of 16 horizontal
legs per location. The 5th well produced
water disposal well. Trident well site
reporting system used Wellview daily
reports with Excel spread sheets to assist in
cost effectiveness.
Rig Manager on Oilwell 700, National 80-B,
National 610. Supervised all maintenance
and repairs on all types of rig componets &
BOP’s. Worked in remote location via
helicopter.
Maintain drilling records of daily activities
and maintenance of drilling components.
Direct rig crew in setting up rig and all
aspects of drilling procedures. Train crew
members and follow HSE policy and
procedures. Drilled on National, Oil Well &
Emsco draw-works & mud pumps. BOP’s
ranged from 3000psi to 15,000psi.
Worked in all weather conditions,
temperatures in the range from 38 celsius
down to -45 celsius. Type of wells drilled
involved in range from high angle horizontal
multi-lateral, high pressure gas wells, under
balance legs, S-curved, H2S, coil tubing and
snubbing units.
Drilling tools included single shot & MWD
survey tools. Wellbore types include:build &
hold, ”S” cruves & Horinzontals. Training on
down hole mud motor & DD1 training in
Houston, TX.

Started as a floor-hand on 3000 m triple and
worked up to a Derrick-hand. Duties
included: working the rig floor, repairing
mud pumps, rig moves, nipple up BOP’s,
maintenance of all rig components and
cleaning of rig. Running the forklift,
unloading mud materials and casing.
Worked as a motor-hand on a 6400 m diesel
electric triple and worked my way up to
derrick hand.
