Balbardie Club Newsletter August 2016
Welcome back to Simply Play @ Balbardie!
It’s been a busy holiday time and hopefully everyone is feeling rested and ready to go for the new
term. A simple evaluation form for the summer holiday club can be found on the parents table. Your
feedback is valuable to us.
We welcome lots of new P1 children this term. The internal changes to the infant corridor do not
alter our collection procedures for the wee ones. Our regular children will be working hard to settle
them in and teach them the ropes. Please continue to spread the word and help to build our club.

Providing a needs-led service…
At the end of last term, Simply Play introduced a
questionnaire to parents in order to gather information about
your children. This information will form the basis of each
child’s plan which we are obliged to create. Many
questionnaires have yet to be returned. Please speak to
staff if you require a new questionnaire. Thank you to all
parents who have already returned a completed
questionnaire.
Are you having a clear-out before Christmas?
As a charity we have a limited budget to buy toys and
equipment. We will gratefully accept any toys you no
longer need in your house. In particular we are
looking for barbies and costume jewellery 
New Booking System
Simply Play’s new booking system was launched on 15th August. It
now enables you to access it on a mobile phone; term time and
holiday club bookings will be clearer; and cancel bookings yourself.
There is still a 48hr cut-off for bookings to allow for ratio planning and
bookings must be paid for in advance.
Risk-Benefit Analysis
We are changing the way we risk assess situations with
the children. At Simply Play, we aim to support children
in their risk taking as we see it as a valuable part of their
development. Instead of only looking at the risks of a
situation, we will now consider the benefits also. We are
hoping to develop a `risk-o-meter` to make this a fun
and interactive activity for the children. Any questions,
please see staff.
Staff
Arlene and Marion have been inducted to Simply Play’s new dish
washing procedure in line with Health & Safety guidelines.
Suggestions Jar
Just a reminder of our `suggestions jar` and
`comments book`. Please feel free to use
either of these tools to offer ideas or
feedback to staff. You can also of course,
speak to us at any time!
Be Prepared…..
Please save the club mobile number to
your phone. The number can be found
at the start of this newsletter.
Please remember that staff finish work
at 6pm and so children should be
leaving the building prior to this time.
