Out of this World Professional musicians from the Leap Ensemble 4 leaders from Birmingham Conservatoire of Music Chamber Music, Composition, Creative Music Making Mini Planets (Gustav Holst) Dear Young Musician, Rarely do you get the opportunity to work alongside professional musicians - let alone up to 16 professional musicians! GM has joined forces with the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music to provide young musicians (grade 3 to advanced) with the opportunity to create music, perform, and learn from the professionals. Tuesday 11th April 10.00 – 4.00pm Wednesday 12th April 10.00 – 5.00pm (to include informal concert at 5.00pm) Sir Thomas Rich’s School Younger players (grades 3 – 5) will be able to access a range of opportunities including creative music workshops, composition, Q&A sessions with professional players and an opportunity to work alongside our visitors in a performance of Holst’s mini planets suite, a work specially commissioned by Gloucestershire Music from the pen of Matt Kingston. Our more advanced musicians (grade 6+) will focus on chamber classes, Q&A sessions with professional players and technical workshops, and assist in the performance of Holst’s Mini Planets Suite. They will benefit from learning new technical skills and composition, particularly useful if studying GCSE or A level Music. ‘Out of this world’ will feature four lead practitioners from Birmingham Conservatoire and the LEAP Ensemble. A unique opportunity for young players to work alongside professional and semiprofessional musicians, raising aspirations and inspiring young musicians to fulfil their musical journeys.
