Summer camps will begin on June the 4th, 2017 this season. The price of the camps will be the same as the
last few years, which is $950/week. A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required for each camp you sign up
for. Look through the weeks that are offered this season. If you decide to attend one of the weeks, just email or
call me to confirm which camp you would like. I can take up to 10 riders into each week below. Send in the
paperwork and deposit to: Can-Do-It Farm, 2279 East Union Road, Jefferson, Ohio 44047. I will need your
registration as soon as possible after signing up. If the camp fills before I receive your paperwork, I will call you
to give you an opportunity to sign up for another week of your choice which has openings. There will only be
one half-week of camp this summer, and the date is July 2 nd (Sunday) through July 5th (Wednesday) *note: read
description of the half week on the information below. A special Day Camp program will be offered the days of
July 6th, 7th, and 8th. (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) for local riders who wish to attend for the day only. I will
be taking only 10 riders each day for this program.
JUNE 4th – 10th ADVANCED RIDERS WEEK (some skills required)
This special week for advanced riders only will begin on Sunday, the 4th of
June and continue through the 10th (Saturday) when we will have a demo show
for your parents to come and watch at 10am. Skills needed for this special
week are walk/trot/canter ability in addition to basic tacking skills. Be sure that
your camper is comfortable cantering alone, and for a period of time. We will
plan on advancing their skills with jumping, dressage, training, and cross
country (if the weather permits in the fields for cross country). Advanced riders
like to ride many, many hours and spend any “down time” hours with their
horses all day long. This week will challenge them to learn dressage, jumping
and equestrian skills that normal riders don’t want to achieve. I encourage
campers to bring their own horses if they have one, ($100 per week board
charge is extra for a stall) and to work on these skills with their equine. If they
do not have a horse, a school horse will be available for them at no extra
charge. Plan on a week of fun, work, training, dressage, jumping, and ground
lessons to interest the more advanced campers. Get ready to have an amazing
week of “everything horses” and it all starts on June 4th. Call early to reserve
your spot for a week you will remember. English riders only please.
JUNE 11th – 17th JUMPING WEEK (English saddles only) any age
If you always wanted to spend a week learning skills in jumping your horse,
this is the week to keep you busy! You can bring your own horse to this week
(if you have one) for an extra $100 boarding fee. If you don’t have a horse of
your own, use one of our many school horses available for you to ride while you
are at camp. Learn to set up courses, learn what grid work is and how to ride
them. learn to ride a jump course in a “show ring” set up, find out the difference
in the types of jumps and how to set them up and work with them, enjoy some
cross country intro (if fields are dry). Riders must consider their current skills
2
before attending this jump week. If you are a beginner rider, and can’t canter
with ease, you may want to consider another week. We will begin at cross rails
heights, and move up according to your campers’ skills. All riders must wear
protective jumping vests, and the tack shop on the farm sells them if you wish to
purchase your own. If you do not have a vest of your own, I do have several
that you may borrow for your week of jumping (at no charge). The farm will
supply splint boots for your horses, and helmets if you don’t have one. All
heights will be considered for every riders’ skill. From small cross rails (2 feet)
to 3’6 fences for advanced riders wanting a challenge, this week will be fun for
everyone. Each rider will have their own limit as to the height of their fences that
they feel comfortable with in this week of riding. Remember to sign up early, as
I only take 10 riders each week. All age riders are welcome as long as you
have the riding skills to handle a week of jumping your horse. We will have a
jumping demo on Saturday at the end of the week of camp for your parents to
come and watch you ride (10am). Let’s jump some fences !!
JUNE 18th – 24th ADVENTURE RIDING WEEK FOR ALL AGES
If your camper loves adventure, but wants it to include horses? This is the
week for her. If she loves horses, riding, and talking with other girls who love
the same thing, this week of Adventure Riding is going to make her happy.
Games, trail riding, swimming with the horses and enjoying a week of adventure
and fun with their very own special horse. Riders can bring their own horses if
they have one, or use a schooling horse that will be supplied for her at the
camp. All tack and equipment is provided for the campers to enjoy their horse
all week long. This “mid- summer” camp will make your camper smile from sunup to sun-down. Your counselors will plan a special activity each day to
surprise your campers. Daily riding lessons are given each morning, followed by
lunch and then “adventure time”.
Campers may find themselves riding
western or English, or even bareback. They may learn about dressage, polo,
trail riding, jumping, or even showmanship and training. Maybe broomstick polo
or taking Martini (one of our horses at the camp) to the lake as a diving board
into the water? How about a picnic in a “strange” place? A special guest may
give them a ground lesson, or a special lesson in a round pen atmosphere.
Maybe just a special surprise that your counselor only knows?
The
possibilities are endless on the “adventures” we will find with horses and girls
who love them so much. Be sure to sign up very early as only 10 girls into each
week will be taken.

JUNE 25TH – JULY 1ST ‘GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN” WEEK
THIS IS JUST PLAIN FUN WEEK for all ages.
If your camper is new to camp, a bit overwhelmed with jumping and showing
horses, but just wants to “have fun” with the horses and learn how to do that ?
this camp is the one for you. With lessons given 2x per day to all riders in basic
skills of riding and caring for horses, this camp will teach all riders to tack and
care for their horses by themselves, learn all about the equipment used in
riding, feeding your own horse, caring for his medical needs, trimming their feet,
the supplies to keep them healthy, all of the tack and special needs that may
come up. This week will give your rider with “basic” skills everything they need
to own or ride a horse anytime, anywhere. Both English and Western riding is
taught, and all saddles and equipment are provided for them by the Farm. If the
weather permits, the girls like to take one of our “swimming” horses to the lake
and use them as a diving board  Trail riding is included for those that are
skilled enough to take an adventure through the trails. There will always be lots
of activities for the girls to enjoy during the week, and they all have to do with
the horses that they love so much. If your camper is ready to enjoy and learn
about horses, this is a week where she will have a “horse of her own” for the
entire week of summer camp. A short demo will be held for parents at the end
of the week, on Saturday at 10am. They will show you what they have learned
during their stay at Can-Do-It Farm. So sign up as soon as you have made up
your mind as to which camp to join.
We are looking forward to 10 girls
attending the camp this week.
JULY 2ND THROUGH JULY 5TH IS A “HALF WEEK OF FUN WEEK”
This special half week is $475 (with a $75 deposit needed to reserve your
spot). It will begin at 2pm on Sunday, the 2nd of July and continue through to a
demo show for the parents at 10am on Wednesday the 5th of July at 10am.
This camp is for any age rider who just wants a “short” stay at the Farm. We
will do as much riding as possible in this short camp. The campers may ride
English or Western and lessons will be given morning and evening. During the
afternoon, we will “open” ride and enjoy games and trails for the girls. This may
be a short camp, but everyone will have a blast, and should not be “homesick”
during this quick camp. Sign up early, as we only have one half-week.
4
JULY 6TH JULY 7TH JULY 8TH (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) SPECIAL
DAY CAMP FOR LOCAL RIDERS .
Riders will arrive at 9am each
morning, and enjoy lessons and riding all day long, and lunch will be
included during the camp. Pick up each day at 4pm. The cost will be
$60/day for each rider. Ages 8 and up only. All horses, tack and
equipment will be supplied for the riders. You must sign up early for
these three days. You must call early to sign up for these 3 days, and
there is no deposit to hold your spot. All riders are asked not to sign up if
they are not “sure” that they will attend, as the camps will close when full.
A small demo show at the end of Saturday camp will be for parents to
come in early to watch the last lesson of the 3 days. More details later.
JULY 9TH – 15TH GAMES AND TRAIL WEEK (any age, English/Western)
This popular week of trail riding and games on horseback was so enjoyed by
the girls the last 2 years that I will have this week again this year. The
experience in riding will only improve while having fun with lots of games while
riding. Learning to turn, walk/trot/and canter in a controlled area on a ahorse is
difficult but so much FUN? An assortment of games will be taught to the girls
during this week, and a fun show for the parents at the end of the week. Trail
riding is also included into this week of fun for those campers who just love to
ride the “wide open spaces” of the 125-acre Can-Do-It Farm. The girls will find
friends that love horses as much as they do, and the combination of new friends
and horses will make this week one to remember. Riders may enjoy English
saddles or Western Saddles, and may change during the week when they want.
Lessons are given to the girls 2 times each day to ensure that tacking and
caring for the horses is learned. I am sure any camper would enjoy this week of
horses, horses, horses. Sign up early for the week of Games and Trail.
JULY 16TH – 22ND BASIC TRAINING, RIDING SKILLS AND SHOW SKILLS
If you have a “new” rider who is just beginning to enter the world of horses,
this week will teach them basic riding and horse-care skills. We will cover
English and Western riding lessons, How to tack a horse, Basic training that
riders must know to move up the scale to more advanced riding, and how to
prepare for a horse show. Campers will be shown the proper clothing, tack,
and classes that are offered at many local show grounds. Some riders have
only ridden at walk and trot, and are ready to learn how to canter and take small
jumps, along with how the horses are taught to do the same. This camp will
cover all of the questions the girls may have on how to “own a horse of their
own” someday. Feeding, grooming, riding, tacking, training, medical care, and
most of all “safety” around these beautiful animals. If you want to bring your
own horse to camp (extra fee of $100 for the week of board), you are welcome
5
to (or ride one of our horses). We will finish our week with a demo show for the
parents on Saturday at 10am. If your rider is not ready for an advanced camp,
then give this week a thought. We have the time, talent, horses and location to
help your new equestrian start her riding safe and correct. We look forward to
helping our young equestrians begin the right way!
JULY 23RD – 29TH CROSS COUNTRY-RIDING AND JUMPING WEEK
(this camp is the first of a 2-week option for riders wishing to stay in the next
week of camp…SHOW WEEK. **
This “more advanced” week will teach your camper to ride outside of an
enclosed ring. Riding in the fields and trails, over jumps and on the flat, is a
lesson in control and knowledge. In order to keep riders safe, protective vests
are required for this special week of cross-country riding. We will begin by
evaluating the campers’ skills in the ring, and teaching them to slowly work
their way into field work. The farm has many permanent jumps set throughout
the farm for the girls to practice jumping. Can-Do-It Farm has 125 acres of
land, jumps, lakes, and pasture space for the campers to enjoy a full course of
cross-country riding and jumping. Riders in this camp should have basic
walk/trot/canter skills, and it helps if they have jumped at least 2ft jumps
comfortably in their lessons at home. This will also be part of a 2-week camp
that will continue through to the last week of camp, July 30-August 5th. On Aug
5th, the Farm will host an “open show/pace/jumping event” here at the camp.
The campers will be welcome to participate in this “show week” if they want.
Riders attending this week will have practice for the jumps that will be used in
the next (and final) week of summer camp for 2017. Riders do not have to
attend both weeks; however,** if they do, a $50 discount will be offered to
campers who attend both weeks. The time between this week and the next
week campers may stay in the bunkhouse Saturday night until Camp begins
again Sunday at 2pm. There will be no charge for the overnight layover. These
two weeks are offered together to give riders a chance to advance by practicing
jumping for two solid weeks. Riders may bring their own horse or ride one of
ours during either (or both) of these weeks. Only 10 riders in each of these
weeks will be accepted. If you plan on attending both weeks, please sign up
early to reserve a spot in both weeks.
JULY 30TH – AUGUST 5TH SHOW WEEK FINAL CAMP OF 2017
We always hold our final week of the summer for Show Week on the Farm.
To end a great camping season, the Farm will host a horse show on Saturday,
August 5th (weather permitting) for all of our campers, students, and local riders
are welcome to attend also. We have 2 outdoor rings, a short cross country
course, and a long pace course that covers 2.5 miles of riding and jumping.
6
Riders from our local area attend this show, along with our campers. There is
an entry fee for the classes the day of the show, and campers do NOT have to
attend if they don’t wish. (They can attend the Show Week camp and have
their parents pick them up at the regular time of 10am on Saturday if they do
not want to show). If your camper loves to show their horses (or mine if they
don’t have their own) and hang a few ribbons on their walls at home, have fun
with their friends who love horses and shows as much as they do, then this
week will interest your camper. We will practice courses for jump classes, work
on equitation and pleasure classes, practice the “fun” games classes, and learn
about how a show is put on. After practicing all week long, parents will attend
the show on Saturday and watch the girls ride. The show usually lasts most of
the day, and there is a “food booth” available for parents and friends and
campers to enjoy a lunch during the day. (reasonable prices too!) If weather
gives us rain, the show will be cancelled and girls will go home at the regular
time (10am) and will have enjoyed a week of learning about and practicing the
show classes all week long.
Ribbons will be given out, and there will be
classes for everyone to enjoy. Flyers and more information will come out later
in the summer for everyone. You can visit [email protected] for more
information about the show later in the summer. Everyone loves the last week
of camp, and we would love your camper to be part of it too! Consider staying 2
weeks, get a $50 discount on your second week, and enjoy lessons and show
practice for an entire 2 weeks of horses.
OK, that’s it! Now it’s your turn to decide. Check your calendars, talk it over with parents, and call the Farm with your
decision…..We hope to see you this summer of 2017 Registration begins in December for everyone. 5 min riders and 10

Where the outside of a horse is so good for the inside of a young rider.
See you this summer !!!
Remember to talk with your friends about the summer camp. Invite a friend to
attend with you! If you are a previous camper at CDI, and refer a new camper
who has never attended the camp, you will receive $25 credit in the Tack Shop
located on the camp. We thank you for your referral.
The camp also gives riding lessons year-round. Boarding facility is available for local riders at $425/month. Our
tack shop is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesdays through Saturday during the year. Girl Scout programs are
